Cathy~O'riginals: Why buy when you can DIY!
http://cathyoriginals.blogspot.com/2014/01/why-buy-when-you-can-diy.html
Why buy when you can DIY! Recently I joined a couple of art journal groups and in the suggested items to have were a few unfamiliar to me, one of them being Alcohol Inks. Of course I went to my go to site for all things you could possibly want.ever. Amazon! Sure enough they had them, not that I doubted they would but after looking at the prices, anywhere from $3.99 to $9.99 and up PER BOTTLE, I thought there had to be a better way for a che.ummm. thrifty person such as myself! And here they are! Subscrib...

Cathy~O'riginals: Illustrated Haiku
http://cathyoriginals.blogspot.com/p/illustrated-haiku.html
Something I have recently begun to love doing is to write my own Haiku. And then either make a piece of art or take a photo to go along with them. As you'll notice I use different methods for creating the illustrations. Sometimes I start by writing the Haiku, which inspires the art, other times a piece of art or a photo will inspire the poem. When I have enough made, I'm thinking of either making a calender from them or a book. This form of Haiku is actually called HAIGA. Frost on the windows.

New work in progress! I am about to become a Nana again! My daughter is having another little boy in June, so if you quilt, you know what that means. Yep, time to make a baby quilt! Of course if you know me, you've probably guessed that this won't be a pastel colored, traditional type of baby quilt.lol. I can't reveal any of the actual quilt yet, since my daughter reads my blog and this is going to be a surprise.well not the quilt part, she knows I am making one, but the design part. So here they are.

Cathy~O'riginals: Resuming work on a forgotten project
http://cathyoriginals.blogspot.com/2014/04/resuming-work-on-forgotten-project.html
Resuming work on a forgotten project. Tonight my son asked me if I ever thought about making a quilt by hand, which reminded me that back in 2008 I saw a pattern in McCall's Quilting that I loved so much I ended up buying the pattern book in case I missed any of the issues that the blocks were in. The pattern was Grandma's Country Album. By Robert Callaham.and I paid a LOT less for it than the price it's listed for on Amazon! More surprisingly, I really enjoyed doing it too! So watch this space, by the e...

Cathy~O'riginals: Bursting through the "block" at last!!
http://cathyoriginals.blogspot.com/2014/04/bursting-through-block-at-last.html
Bursting through the "block" at last! Not counting the quilt for the new baby, for the past four years I have been unable to do anything with fabric. A lot of that had to do with my mother passing away in January 2010. I had been trying to get her up here to be close to us for her last days but her health went bad so fast that from one week to the next it was safe for her to be moved and then it wasn't. She never did get to meet her great grandson or spend her last days with her family. I had the sketch:.
