The Academic Quilter: December 2014
http://academicquilter.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
All quilters welcome here! Tuesday, December 30, 2014. Hi all, and welcome to the last post of 2014! Who else can't believe this year is almost over? When I was a kid, the year 2000 seemed soooo far away, and here we are nearly 15 years past it, and still no flying cars. I would settle for a regular one that's indestructible, if anyone is working on this. First, I have a picture to show of the only Christmas present I made this year:. I'll post a tutorial on the first Tuesday of every month for the block...

The Academic Quilter: January 2015
http://academicquilter.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
All quilters welcome here! Friday, January 30, 2015. Hi everyone, and welcome to the weekend! Hope everyone on the East coast has dug out from the storm. Yesterday someone said "hey, the sun's out," so I grabbed my coat and went out and just stood in the sunshine. It was great! Then I walked over to the library so I didn't look like such an idiot. We'll talk more about that quilt later, because that's just here so that there's a pretty picture at the top of the blog. Our real subject today is this:.

The Academic Quilter: Odd Fellow's tutorial
http://academicquilter.blogspot.com/2015/02/odd-fellows-tutorial.html
All quilters welcome here! Monday, February 23, 2015. I really do encourage you to try this block, though. It looks complicated but it's not very difficult and it's very satisfying once you finish. One thing that I found very helpful in making this block was to measure at each step. This saves a lot of grief later on. I've included measurements in each step below. Let's get to it! From the background fabric, cut: 3 4-1/4 inch squares, 1 3-1/2 inch square, 8 2-3/8 inch squares, and 12 2-inch squares.

http://academicquilter.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
All quilters welcome here! Friday, August 29, 2014. Friends, I could weep. Seriously, I feel the tears forming. Dancing Nines is now a finished quilt top! The sun came out just as I was taking this! And really, I could weep. These pieces sat in a drawer for more than 16 years. (Original post is HERE. The finished size of this baby is about 58 by 68. I have only a small handful of random pieces left. (Happy dance! And look what I got out of the leftover green border- a bright green Odd Fellow! He looks ha...

The Academic Quilter: Odd Fellows at home
http://academicquilter.blogspot.com/2015/07/odd-fellows-at-home.html
All quilters welcome here! Thursday, July 23, 2015. Odd Fellows at home. Today I have a very special quilt to show off- my Odd Fellow's Gathering quilt is finally, finally finished! It turned out to be a beauty, didn't it? I know I say this all the time, but I love this quilt! So much went into it and there are several fabrics that I really loved in it. How do people get their quilts to drape so nicely? Later finally stitched it to the front of the quilt. Where it stayed for months. Odd Fellow's Gatherin...

Since it's been such a rough week, let's get right to the pretties and feel better, okay? First up, I made the turtle block for the Elephant Parade quilt:. http://academicquilter.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
All quilters welcome here! Friday, October 31, 2014. Hey ho, it's Halloween! Which also means that it's the last day of October and November starts tomorrow. How did this happen? For our part of the country, the first of November opens the betting for when the first snow will fall. Let's hope it's not tonight, because it's pretty cold. Be sure to put those costumes on over a coat, kids! I swear that bottom edge is really straight! Tiny 60 by 80? Should fit a king, right? And surprise- those pink corners ...
