Fourteen acres of happiness. Road Trip day 2. Started the day with waffles for breakfast then off to St Simons Island. The weather is terrific 88 degrees and blue skies. We parked in the pier village then walked along the seafront while waiting for our trolley bus tour at 10.30. It was great to see the pelicans along the pier. Promptly at 10 the trolley arrived. On the way back we walked around the historic district and saw some of the older houses more of the amazing trees they have around here. Complet...

Fourteen acres of happiness. My Mum and Stepfather arrived from the UK last week, just after my friends from New Zealand had gone on their road trip to New Orleans after staying with us for 4 days. Thursday night we had all 6 at the house and we had a fantastic time reminiscing and eating Chinese take away. Friday Mr Rob ran the Kiwi’s back to the airport after a bit of sniffing from me! There was a genuine wigwam and a guy on stilts dressed as a tree! By that time Mr Rob and Mike had arrived so we met t...

Fourteen acres of happiness. Road Trip day 3. Straight after breakfast we drove back towards Waycross on our way to the Okefenokee Swamp Park. The route took us through another state park so the drive as really pleasant. I spotted a snake dropping from a tree into the water and we stopped to see if the guide could see what it was, pretty glad that I did not actually see it again when we got really close, apart from his head sticking out of the water. The guide also pointed out a carnivorous plant tha...

Voyager – Rest In Peace | WanderingFoxFarm

Fourteen acres of happiness. Voyager – Rest In Peace. Let’s first celebrate an all too short life. When we first moved to Georgia we started a new chapter in our life by taking on 5 Alpacas, 2 girls and 3 boys. The boys were all born around the same time and we initially had great trouble telling them apart and linking them to their real names. So they got nicknamed, Brown Spot, Quirky and Stumpy. Voyager was the one we had called Stumpy as he was smaller than the other two. Rob took him to the Vet and t...

Fourteen acres of happiness. Lets talk about the bees. So apart from getting multiple guests to help with the bees, we also had to contend with a swarm. this happened while Hazel was visiting and she got to see the spectacle of me holding a ladder while Rob climbed the tree and tried to shake them into a bucket. Once that part is completed Rob puts the frames back into the hives for the bees to rebuild. and we pour the honey into a filter system to drain out any bits of wax. July 21, 2015. Miss Lynne (as...

Fourteen acres of happiness. So long since I blogged – next few will be a catch up. After they went back, my daughter sent me these lovely gifts, one to remind me of out trip and the other to celebrate my birthday. Here is a picture of Hazel helping Rob with his bees. In June Rob was going back to the UK to see his granddaughters and new grandson – he made these great posters to announce the trip. Another one that Rob roped in to helping him with the bees. Fourteen acres of happiness. We tried to go for an ATV adventure on Friday but we were turned back by heavy rain. Sunday was fine so off we went. Out through the woods and down the big hill to the creek. We came down there! Concentration was needed to balance those rocks. Not for the faint hearted. This entry was posted in Uncategorized. August 22, 2016. Life Death and the unknown. While Alana and I were away enjoying ourselves, Mr Rob was having his own roller coaster ride at the farm. First we had too ...

Fourteen acres of happiness. Aerial view via Google. The property sits on a south facing hillside, mostly surrounded by established deciduous trees. There is approximately 2 acres of good Bermuda grass pasture to support the alpacas. Area 1 is subdivided into two with a shelter and hay storage building. It is perhaps our most challenging area with regard to pasture growth and soil erosion. Area 5 is good pasture but is not fully fenced. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.
