Previous Year Finished projects. 2014 Pantone Quilt Challenge. 2015 Pantone Quilt Challenge. Monday, 31 August 2015. Strawberries and Sugar Quilt. Don't fall off your chair, but I have an actual proper blog post for you today. I finished this quilt a while ago, but I finally managed to get myself organised to take photos this weekend so I can share it here. I started this quilt earlier in the year. Was the perfect fabric to finish off this quilt. As usual, I stitched on a label before gifting. I boug...

Chicky Quilts: July 2014
http://chickyquilts.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Friday, July 11, 2014. A sunny Block Lotto win. I will receive 15 more making a total of 17. I'm not sure how I will arrange them or if I need to make a few more. The third that I sent away was a combination of the two methods - paper pieced rays, hand appliqued centre, and hand pieced background. This turned out to be the best of both worlds and definitely the approach I will take if I make a few more. I've received three so far and am eagerly awaiting the rest. It's so fun checking the mail! The proces...

Thursday, August 21, 2014. Progess after 3 years. My blue snowflakes have resurfaced after taking me almost 3-1/2 years to applique 9 blocks. I thought I had decided how I would lay them out and the number of each type (light on dark or dark on light) was determined by this layout. But, after some analysis, drawing, calculating, whining, and recalculating I decided on a different direction. Linking up to Freshly Pieced. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Progess after 3 years. Chicky Quilts: May 2015

Saturday, May 16, 2015. Blogger's Quit Festival Entry - Blue Snowflakes. I remember thinking this quilt would be ready for the last Blogger's Quilt Festival, but it was not. It was finished shortly after in early November 2014, so I'm entering it this year in the applique category. I quilted it using my Juki TL-98 on a Swiftquilter frame. I tried a few experiments with scale and different patterns. I love the effect, but it may be a while before I use tiny pebbles again as a filler. My green and white qu...
Chicky Quilts: May 2014

Tuesday, May 27, 2014. Quilting the wedding quilt. I spent most of last weekend sewing. DD was off to camp with girl guides (scouts) so I had no excuses. Friday night was a disaster - I had cut all of my setting triangles earlier to make sure I had big enough pieces of fabric and I cut the remaining squares for the blocks from what was left. Thursday, May 22, 2014. I was thinking the other day how I have long-term WIPs (I still refuse to call them UFOs) and then other projects that spring up like weeds, ...
Chicky Quilts: April 2015
http://chickyquilts.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Thursday, April 16, 2015. I finally managed to do a concentrated burst of sewing to move this project forward. I really ran into a creative wall when I finished the center medallion because I couldn't quite work out what to do with the corners. Sometimes putting a project away for a while is the best approach. I'm hoping to get the top pieced by this weekend. Then it's in queue for quilting because my green/white HST quilt is still on the frame and about 2/3 finished. Linking up with Lee at Freshly Pieced.
Chicky Quilts: September 2014
http://chickyquilts.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Wednesday, September 24, 2014. Quilting and Newton's laws of motion. The other day I was contemplating some physics - okay, that's a lie. But, there was a time, a long time ago, when I was quite embedded in physics and I was pretty good at it. Now, my applied mathematics is limited to calculating the size of a half square triangle, which I often get wrong the first time round. Second law: The relationship between an object's mass m, its acceleration a, and the applied force F is F = ma. Acceleration ...

"Time's fun when you're having flies."
Time's fun when you're having flies.". Wednesday, September 12, 2012. This broccoli was harvested from our garden. It is so exciting to be starting to eat food regularly from our vege patch. We have more broccoli growing and nearly ready to eat. It actually looks overgrown, but it's just full of food, and 'almost' food. There are tomatoes beginning to flower. Fresh iceberg lettuce straight from the garden tastes amazing! My parsley has recovered after it was nearly demolished by the possum. Miss 3 loves ...
