Class sizes are small, no more than four students and are suitable for all levels; the beginner, to those wanting to learn more advance techniques and refine their construction skills and knowledge. Beginners learn basic machine skills and garment construction. Learn to use and understand a commercial pattern (Butterick, Simplicity etc.). Working with commercial patterns learn to measure, fit and adjust. Learn sewing methods based on industry shortcuts. Work at your own pace on a project of your choice.

A little bit of personal info. I studied at the Dress Design Studio, East Sydney TAFE for 3 years and after graduating went directly into the fashion industry, working for twenty years as a Designer and Patternmaker. My work in the fashion industry allowed me to become involved in every aspect of range development and garment construction. Take a pattern with a silhouette that works for you, make it up in a divine fabric, tweak the pattern to make the most of that fabric, and you have a gorgeous dress for the festive season. The bodice fabric was found at 'The Fabric Store' in Surry Hills and is a Lisa Ho silk chiffon. Sue snapped up the end of the roll as soon as she saw it. I would have to say that I am always amazed, at the talent and dedication of the high school girls that sew with me at the studio. This is Caitie, who has been sewing with the studio for a few years and last year she was busy working on her Textiles and Design Major Work for the 2011 HSC. Pale pink sequins covered the gown and were stitched on, one by one. Layers and layers of colourful organza. Satin stitched stars and sequins.
