DianeLoves2Quilt: October 2014
http://dianeloves2quilt.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Wednesday, October 29, 2014. Last week was slow and steady. But this week I crossed the finish line with my Vintage Ornaments quilt, even down to the label. The quilting in the sashing came out with the effect I wanted. It looks like the path taken by little starbursts wandering among the ornament blocks. And, in the blocks where it shows up, I am pleased that I made the effort to quilt in two sizes of meandering. I also made a second Counting Monkey. Wednesday, October 15, 2014. WIP: Slow and Steady.

DianeLoves2Quilt: September 2014

Thursday, September 25, 2014. On it) It can do such a tidy, quick job once I mastered the trickiness of getting it started. See the edges in the following photo. For inspiration I keep referring back to the QuiltingIsMoreFunThanHouseworkBlog and all her Scrap-A-Palooza tips. Be sure to check out the Scrap-A-Palooza Quilt Gallery tab to see what marvels can be made of all those scraps! Wednesday, September 24, 2014. Out of them someday. A loud thundering compressor? This is the quilter's equivalent of pic...

DianeLoves2Quilt: February 2015

Wednesday, February 25, 2015. Sandwich Making and Some Nibbles. This week I intended to make quilt sandwiches. Today I seamed the backing for Simple Gifts. The backing fabric was originally purchased to be two lengths running sideways across the quilt back. I just noticed the backing fabric has a direction. Since I want the written lyrics to the Christmas carols to read horizontally, seaming the backing became a bit more complicated. Has been slowed down by . the need to think! After several hours of mea...

DianeLoves2Quilt: January 2015
http://dianeloves2quilt.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Wednesday, January 28, 2015. This week, I was working on blocks that had aqua gifts with red bows on a green background. I have been moving right along on these green background blocks, settled in a rhythm. I now know how to align the seams and where to trim the top bow section to have it meet the gift part how I like it. I was also thinking about the name for this quilt. I thought of naming it Quilt of Many Gifts. Patterned after the musical Joseph and the Coat of Many Colors. Wednesday, January 21, 2015.

DianeLoves2Quilt: Purchases and Plans
http://dianeloves2quilt.blogspot.com/2015/08/purchases-and-plans.html
Wednesday, August 5, 2015. I just returned from Oklahoma after the birth of my first grandson on July 16th. My previous post. Was about a visit to Sooner Quilts. In Guthrie, OK with him and my daughter. I have returned home now and I'm a bit tired from travel. The trouble with a big push to finish something, immediately followed by travel, is the start-up again upon return home. I have two quilt tops waiting in the wings all layered and ready to be FMQ'd. I like the deep rich colors of the wine bottles i...

DianeLoves2Quilt: July 2014

Wednesday, July 16, 2014. WIP: Boats, Bitties, and Blue Waves. In my July 9, 2014 WIP post. I had just begun the fabric selection for my Nautical Baby Quilt. I'd picked out all fabric except the fabric for the waves, deferring that selection until I had some boats assembled. I cut out the pieces for the boats and background and tried out a new assembly system using Alphabitties. Never quite able to bring myself to throw out fabrics, I chain-pieced the triangles I cut off into HSTs. I left them connec...

DianeLoves2Quilt: Start 'em Early before Heading Home
http://dianeloves2quilt.blogspot.com/2015/07/start-em-early-before-heading-home.html
Wednesday, July 29, 2015. Start 'em Early before Heading Home. I am heading back home to California after spending 2.5 weeks with my daughter's family in Oklahoma for the birth of their second child, a boy they named Isaiah. I did some serious baby holding while my daughter worked on the dinosaur themed quilt she is making for her son. She has published a post about it in her blog RobinLovesQuilting. Here is the fabric I bought to make a coordinating crib sheet. In my previous post. It is good to be head...

Wednesday, August 27, 2014. WIP: Nautical Quilt Finish. This week I quilted and finished the nautical baby quilt. I quilted the central section diagonally with white thread as planned with my feed dogs engaged. I set the diagonal spacing and direction to match that of the wave blocks of half-square triangles. Turning was difficult at times as I changed the direction of the diagonals. But I wanted a zig-zag pattern like the sailboats make when they tack into the wind. At just over 21 months old she is sli...

Wednesday, August 26, 2015. Quilt as accent strips and in my Traveling Mandala. Wall hanging as the geese of flying geese. At first blush these Hawaiian blocks look on grain. I am leaning toward making non-pieced blocks of 2x2 or 3x3 squares fussy cut from this fabric and interspersing them with other pieced blocks containing all three teal, red, and blue colors. I see too that her crafty endeavors have also wavered from quilting only. Maybe we quilters all needed a summer break. I Spy in Colorado Springs.
