Sew, knit, cook, write – enjoy! Emperor’s Jewels QAYG Block 7. Asymp; 1 Comment. Emperor's Jewels QAYG Quilt-Along. I made this block using appliqué. If you would prefer to make it using foundation piecing, feel free. I’ll show you how to draw it up and then how I made it. The block measures 28.5″ X 4.5″. I printed a few sheets of the 1/2″ graph paper I gave the link for in Block 6. And taped them together. Then I drew the pattern as below. Emperor’s Jewels Block 6 Part 2. Asymp; 2 Comments. Now we are g...

Sew, knit, cook, write – enjoy! A fabric challenge with a difference. Asymp; 4 Comments. I’m throwing out a challenge. I know many quilters, myself included, feel uncomfortable about the amount of fabric we have. I know that we need a large variety of fabrics of different designs, colours etc., after all these are the tools of the trade. However, I still think that we all know we have too much. Why is this fabric challenge different? What we have, Re-use. Fabrics from clothes etc., Swap. Join 173 other f...

Sew, knit, cook, write – enjoy! I need the sewing room organising fairy. Asymp; 8 Comments. How do you organise your sewing room? I have such difficulty in deciding where to start and how to sort my fabrics. Do you keep your untouched fabrics separate from the ones you’ve cut into? And how do you fold those cut up ones? Do you sort by colour, by type, or by collection? And what do you with ones you’re still working on and don’t want out of sight, because they’ll be out of mind? My first 2014 project.

Sew, knit, cook, write – enjoy! Constructing the bottom half of the Emperor’s Jewels Quilt. Asymp; 2 Comments. Emperor's Jewels QAYG Quilt-Along. Sew blocks 4, 5, 6 and 7 together as shown below. Now, because we sewed four blocks together before we QAYGed, we need to sew four blocks together for the backing to maintain the patchwork look. Optional though. If you want to just use one piece of fabric for the back that’s fine too. Here’s the bottom half of the quilt finished. What do you think? I then put t...

time out stitching: finished not perfect...

http://christine-timeoutstitching.blogspot.com/2013/08/finished-not-perfect.html

Saturday, August 17, 2013. I started this quilt years ago.and it has sat in the cupboard unfinished! I was just plain sick of it.some of the fabrics are simply ugly. And I don't know why I would have used that brownish star. It doesn't go at all. Before I went on our holiday. I got it out with some intention to finish! It was sitting on the sewing room cupboard and I thought the. Only way to have it out of the room was to sew on the borders! So that is what I have been doing this week. I think it is so f...

time out stitching: double wedding ring

http://christine-timeoutstitching.blogspot.com/2014/07/double-wedding-ring.html

Wednesday, July 30, 2014. These old double wedding ring blocks were started many years ago in a quilt group workshop. I was thinking of not finishing it and putting the fabric back in my stash for some other project. But when I pulled it out of the bag I thought the old fabrics were too pretty to not to finish it. So today I did some work on it.I decided to use this spot for the background. I'm not sure how big I will make it, It probably will depend on how much background I have. A Charmed Life quilt.

Monday, July 22, 2013. Back home after our holiday to Western Australia. 3 weeks spent with our son who lives in Bunbury WA. We saw lots of little towns in the South West. Now I am eager to do some sewing. Lovely pics Christine, sounds like a wonderful holiday.xx. July 22, 2013 at 6:53 PM. Amazing to see the waves moving! A day l...

Sew, knit, cook, write – enjoy! Second finish for 2014. Asymp; 14 Comments. I made a baby quilt using foundation piecing techniques and scraps from my last baby quilt. This because I’m trying to use stash wherever possible. I pieced the back too and used my cloud ruler template to machine quilt it. Take a look….
