Sewn By Elizabeth: Megan Nielsen Brumby Skirt
http://www.sewnbyelizabeth.blogspot.com/2015/06/megan-nielsen-brumby-skirt.html
Challenges and triumphs of learning to sew. Tuesday, 9 June 2015. Megan Nielsen Brumby Skirt. I pattern tested the Brumby Skirt. For Megan Nielsen and I have nothing but positive things to say about the just released pattern. It's a gathered skirt with deep curved pockets, an exposed back zip and various length and fullness options. This is a super fun pattern to make and wear and I'd really like to make a midi version despite knowing that it just wouldn't suit me. Especially as I rarely wear heels&#...

Challenges and triumphs of learning to sew. Sunday, 31 May 2015. Grainline Studio Cascade Duffle Coat. I love winter coats. I have four that I wear regularly (including my Jackie Coat). Enter the Grainline Studio Cascade Duffle Coat. Pattern, which I bought from Indie Stitches. It took some time to gather all the material. I used leftover black wool felting from my Jackie coat, and bought some gorgeous grey speckled wool from the cloth shop for the contrast. I couldn't find any premade toggles I ...I wan...
Sewn By Elizabeth: Blue Merino Coppelia Cardi
http://www.sewnbyelizabeth.blogspot.com/2015/05/blue-merino-coppelia-cardi.html
Challenges and triumphs of learning to sew. Saturday, 16 May 2015. Blue Merino Coppelia Cardi. My pink and black Papercut Patterns Coppelia Cardigans. Have got to be some of the most worn garments in my cupboard. I wear cropped cardigans a lot and their neutral tones are perfect for just about every occasion. Unfortunately my pink merino cardi. Has a few holes (which I'll sew up) and the cheap black fabric. Has a photo tutorial which shows something very similar (steps 6,7,8). Labels: Hand Made 2015.
Sewn By Elizabeth: A Maxi Emery Dress
http://www.sewnbyelizabeth.blogspot.com/2015/06/a-maxi-emery-dress.html
Challenges and triumphs of learning to sew. Friday, 26 June 2015. A Maxi Emery Dress. Tim and I just came home from a 2 and a bit week holiday in Vietnam. It was absolutely amazing and we can't wait to start planning our next holiday. Before we left I made a couple of summer items for the trip. First up, a maxi version of the Emery Dress pattern by Christine Haynes. I've made this pattern quite a few times ( 1. The fabric seemed perfect for the tropical weather - bright and summery but cool and flowing.

Challenges and triumphs of learning to sew. Thursday, 29 January 2015. Another Shirt For Tim: Negroni Archer Hack #2. Another shirt for Tim. I cut this one out ages ago after seeing a man on a tram wearing a similar black and white gingham contrast shirt. I again used my hacked Negroni Archer pattern pieces. See this post. For more details on that. I made one further mod by taking out a further 1/2"of fabric from the width of each sleeve and the fit is better in this shirt than the previous versions.

Learning to sew in your 40s. Learning Restraint: Part III. January 30, 2015. Or in other words: the fun. To work along my sensible, ‘wardrobe gaps’ list, I’ve also compiled a ‘treats’ list for myself. I wanted to instil a more thoughtful process into my projects this year, to avoid falling for a whole host of random projects that in my real life. I never actually wear! So after much research, these are the patterns that I narrowed it down to:. New ‘ Designed for Knits’. Next up is their Moneta. Seen just...

Selfish Sewing Week: Belcarra Blouse | nearest the pin
https://nearestthepinblog.wordpress.com/2014/09/29/selfish-sewing-week-belcarra-blouse
A blog about sewing. Selfish Sewing Week: Belcarra Blouse. Was last week – yes I realise! I did sew this top last week, I just couldn’t manage to get it photographed and blogged until today. It’s the Sewaholic Belcarra Blouse. 8211; a pretty straightforward raglan sleeve top for woven fabrics. I used rayon for this version – I’m a big rayon fan, it’s not difficult to sew with, feels nice to wear and is easy to look after. I love this fabric sooooo much! Some outtakes with my trusty assistant. We’ll...

Waterfall Blouse by Make it Perfect. Published May 11, 2015. Happy Mother’s Day to all the mums out there! And a special mention to all the women trying to become mums or mums that have lost their precious little ones, I’m thinking of you xx. To the Waterfall Blouse…. I had actually made these tops a while ago. I was going back to work after baby and needed some new tops that would work for the workplace. I also felt I needed them to be loose-fitting 😉. A while back (I mean, almost a year ago I think!

Make It Perfect Joey Dress | nearest the pin
https://nearestthepinblog.wordpress.com/2014/09/04/make-it-perfect-joey-dress
A blog about sewing. Make It Perfect Joey Dress. I tested a fantastic new pattern recently – you may have seen a few popping up in blog land, it’s the Joey dress. By Make It Perfect. The Joey Dress is a super comfy (so Miss A tells me) and super easy to put together knit dress. The cute kangaroo pocket is a big hit and I love how the ribbing adds a pop of colour. Is it just me? Is this a term that is more common in the US than here? Aussies – help me out here? Ha ha, anyway, cute pocket 🙂. I call that p...

Challenges and triumphs of learning to sew. Friday, 3 July 2015. One last garment made and photographed in Vietnam: a maxi Marrila Walker Ilsley Skirt. The Ilsley skirt is a free pattern (woo hoo! Which, because of the elastic easy fit style, is very easy to modify into a number of different looks. My first version. Mostly followed the instructions and the pattern apart from changing the elastic casing method and style. This time round I made quite a few super simple modifications. I made this skirt in a...

It is wise to look for more. Where I buy my Fabric. Monday, February 25, 2013. My Best Dressed List. I watched the Oscars last night with my sister, Anna. We watch it every year together. With a mom who studied theater arts in college, my whole family has been watching the Oscars since I can remember. We would have parties growing up with close family friends, starting to watch the red carpets at 3 pm- before TiVo days- to hear every star's interview. It was like the Superbowl for us. Was put on hold com...

About Me: Amelia Quintin. On June 29, 2011. Where you’ve been and where you’re going! Topic of the Week. On March 22, 2011. There are many Geo-Location Check-in sites and apps. These are the two sites that I tried: Foursquare. In having to choose between Foursquare and Yelp, I choose Yelp for the more user friendly features. Although it’s not as cleaver in it’s tracking abilities, I think the purpose of what the sites are really for is better experienced through Yelp. Topic of the Week. I really like tha...

Tuesday, 16 April 2013. My first refashion (upcyle? Wow, I had so many projects I wanted to finish up and blog about over the Easter break and then.well, then life with two small children happened! Both children have tag teamed me with some inexplicable lurgy or another over the past couple of weeks which has meant that pretty much nothing has been going on around here :(. And the first thing I picked up was this:. I loved the pretty floral prints and the floaty tiers. From which I made this skirt. Check...
