Sew Susan Sew: October 2012

http://www.sewsusansew.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html

Tuesday, October 30, 2012. The Beginning - February 2011. As far back as I can remember I have always enjoyed working with my hands. In the most recent years this has manifested itself into two obsessions - gardening and quilting. I thought this blog would be a good place to store photos and some short narratives of my progress in quilting. The perfect therapy for days when I can't get out in the garden. Below is the project I made from that workshop. Our dining table runner - March 2011.

Sew Susan Sew: February 2014

Wednesday, February 19, 2014. Three finished projects to start off the new year! Hilde Morin workshop - January 16 and 17. Six of us - Marti, Janet, Ann, MJ, Hiromi and I - gathered at Hilde Morin's beautiful studio in her home in the Portland area for Hilde's "Curves and More" workshop. Lunch break on Day 2. This shows only about 1/3 of Hilde's studio space. We all left with "studio envy". Over the two days Hilde skillfully shared her design and construction techniques for creating her curved pieces.

Sew Susan Sew: November 2012

Monday, November 5, 2012. Catherine Elena's Baby Quilt - In process, November 2012. Alexandra's baby sister is coming in January 2013 so it's time for another quilt. Niece Ellen invited me over to see the newly painted room - pink! Now I have to say I am not a pink person. But it is good for me to work outside of my usual palette of colors, right? Robert Kaufman - "Dress Up" - #13063. My journal page of the palette. Somehow this came out upside down). I can hardly wait to get further along but it will ha...

Sew Susan Sew: April 2013

http://www.sewsusansew.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html

Thursday, April 4, 2013. Finished piece inspired by Gloria Laughman's workshop. Below is the finished quilt I started in Gloria Laughman's workshop way back in September 2012. I completed it mid-February but am just now getting around to posting the photos (life has been busy). I extended the quilting from the appliqued area into the border in an attempt to pull the two parts together. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Finished piece inspired by Gloria Laughmans works. Sew Susan Sew: Catching Up

http://www.sewsusansew.blogspot.com/2014/01/catching-up.html

Sunday, January 5, 2014. The quilting production slowed a bit in 2013 due to travels, family changes and shoulder surgery. But I did manage to find a bit of time to complete a few projects. Anna's Bed Quilt - Completed Spring 2103. While we were in Sisters during Christmas 2012 Anna chose this Valori Wells quilt pattern and fabric for a double bed quilt. The quilt provided a good opportunity for me to get some more practice with free motion quilting. Connie's One Block Wonder Table Runner - Spring 2013.

Tuesday, May 8, 2012. On trying to be gender neutral. Oh the question: "Are you going to find out if it's a boy or a girl? It's probably the first question everyone asks, after "When are you due? I don't mind the question; I asked it a million times, before I was pregnant, to other overwhelmed and emotional mommies to be. What I find funny is the reaction people give you when you give the answer. For us the answer is "No, we aren't going to find out the gender.". Or if you see excitement it's camp - YES!

Sew Sustainable | repurposed fashion and craft

Repurposed fashion and craft. One week of wonderful. October 11, 2011. Read my weekly top seven picks of what’s on in Canberra, on Everguide:. Why this site is sew sustainable…. October 6, 2011. Sustainable fashion remains a niche market, as ultimately it does not reflect the broad scope of consumers’ lifestyles. However this type of a site would not only cater to this niche market but also develop a broader online appeal for this emergent industry. And so the story goes…. October 6, 2011. The original s...

Monday, August 23, 2010. Here is my 2nd purse to make! This is an Alexander Henry fabric that I became obsessed until I finally had a great excuse to buy it: My MIL’s birthday! Her name is Harriett but to Eliana she is “Hattie” and so The Hattie Purse is born! There is magenta polka dot binding at the top…. Here is a bird’s eye view. The interior is also magenta. It’s got a zipper! And two roomy pockets on the inside. Friday, July 2, 2010. Longhorns belong grazing in the cool shaded grass!
