Susan's other fancy: Switching Gears
http://susansotherfancy.blogspot.com/2014/06/switching-gears.html
Wednesday, June 25, 2014. Case on Point: The Walls of Jericho Quilt. I started this quilt about 2 years ago. It's a simple pattern - just triangles, rectangles, and squares - and I finished the piecing with what was for me astonishing speed and acceptable precision. So far, so good. Quilting it should have been fast, too. I have a second-hand short-arm Pfaff quilting machine that should make the job relatively easy and fun. This morning I had the bright idea to just call the Pfaff folks and ask them how ...

Susan's other fancy: January 2014
http://susansotherfancy.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, January 14, 2014. I was going like hotcakes there for a while. Quilting, sewing, embroidering, cooking, shopping, wrapping. The Best Boss Ever gave me the week off after Christmas. I had big plans for that week. Take down the Christmas decorations, clean up my sewing room, cook New Year's Day dinner. Things were good for a day or two, then. In any case, it appears I will live. Good thing, too, 'cause I've got a lot to do. See that quilt frame? As soon as I finish the blue quilt.

Susan's other fancy: February 2014
http://susansotherfancy.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
Wednesday, February 12, 2014. Stretched - Part 5. Happy news, Reader. The hat-stretchinIg trick worked. It now fits perfectly, even with the brim turned up. I might felt some of it for handbags or applique scraps. The possibilities are endless! Tuesday, February 11, 2014. Confession Time - Part 4. It would be disingenuous and patently unfair to stop my hat-making story without telling you. The rest of the story. As Paul Harvey said. Then I tried it on. Either my head has grown since I started the hat, or...

Susan's other fancy: The woolies
http://susansotherfancy.blogspot.com/2014/11/the-woolies.html
Wednesday, November 12, 2014. I've been playing with wool this week. It still needs work, but it's getting there. I have enough wool left over to try another hat. Maybe I won't screw up the next one! Susan's other fancy: December 2008
http://susansotherfancy.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
Wednesday, December 31, 2008. It's New Year's Eve. Tonight, if all goes as planned, we'll be staying home where it's warm and quiet. Might have a drop of "spirits" sometime during the evening. If I manage to stay awake until midnight, it'll be a small miracle. I'm posting a picture of the tote bag project, just to prove I wasn't blowing smoke about all that work I did before Christmas. ;) This is 9 of the 12 bags, made for ladies whose ages ranged from teenagers to senior citizens. When I got home and to...

Susan's other fancy: November 2008
http://susansotherfancy.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
Sunday, November 16, 2008. When the dress shop opened, I called them. "Want some hats? We might. What do you have? I confessed that I had not yet made many winter hats. "But I have several of those knitted hats you liked so much.". Oh," she said. Just "oh." A disappointed "oh," at that. I questioned her about her reaction. Did the last ones not sell? They sold," she said, "but now I'm seeing that kind of hat. Hmph You just never know. Bring me some of those. Hats you make," she said before she hung up.

Susan's other fancy: January 2009
http://susansotherfancy.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Wednesday, January 28, 2009. Hat-making, Part I. Allright, let's make a hat. Here is a picture of the basic parts of most hats: (1) Top; (2) Crown; and (3) Brim. Sewn together, the pieces in this picture would make a top hat shape. You could turn it into a "boater" by widening the brim and narrowing the height of the crown. We'll get into the specifics in the next installment. Monday, January 12, 2009. I studied the problem. Some of the pairs of shoes were printed vertically, and some horizontally...

Susan's other fancy: November 2014

Monday, November 17, 2014. Sure enough, when the timer buzzed, the slippers weren't ready. I turned the washing machine knob back to the beginning of the cycle, and went back to my cooking. I decided to try boiling the slippers. My husband came home from work, lifted the lid on the pot, and asked, "Shoe stew? I tried another tactic - wrapping the slippers in bubble wrap and rolling them on the table until my arms gave out. Here's a picture of the project as it stands today:. Wednesday, November 12, 2014.

Susan's other fancy: Does this ever happen to you?
http://susansotherfancy.blogspot.com/2014/09/does-this-ever-happen-to-you.html
Friday, September 26, 2014. Does this ever happen to you? Lately, I have been working at digitizing designs for embroidery machines. This is something I have been playing with for several years. It's an activity that can completely absorb me for hours on end. When a friend suggested I should sell some of my designs online, I thought it a stellar idea and right away opened up a shop at Etsy. (Here's a link, if you're interested in that sort of thing:). Https:/ www.etsy.com/shop/sfancy?
