Monday, August 28, 2006. Longest layover since I've last posted and I choose the worst of days to decide to post something. Worst in terms of how much time I actually have! It's been a whirlwind and odd day - I started my career as a teacher off today, and, though there were many many hitches that I'll need to shore up, I'm alive, I'm here, and I'm ready to put up a fight for day #2 with my pair of third grade classes! Thursday, June 21, 2007. What does it mean to be a human being? Another way to phrase that question is: What is it we all share as people in the world? That's a question that I've had a hard time wrapping around my head these last few weeks. Without a fundamental change in our mindset to fight for the "we" rather than the "me", it does not seem that way. Tuesday, June 27, 2006. Also thought that I should also say that I am proudly writing this entry on a macbook! Yes, after all these years I've finally given it a shot - Went to the dark side (or light side, however you look at it) and picked up a sleek mac - well, actually both "sides" are dark, so no matter - I never knew or believed how intuitive the mac OS is, and though I installed Windows via Bootcamp, I find myself drawn into and heavily utilizing the Mac. Thursday, August 02, 2007. I also went into my new classroom today! It's so odd that I came having to come up with a mnemonic to try to memorize people's names again, just a year after doing it for the first time. It feels doubly strange that I will now be working with a person who's in my shoes from last year; a first year teacher - I guess I'll be stepping into the shoes of a friend of mine I taught with last year! Wednesday, July 18, 2007. Well, well. Less than a month in and I'm already procrastinating! I came back into town just about a week ago now and have spent the last four days looking really hard at different apartments within downtown San Jose - That, more than anything else, has sucked up my time and I do apologize for not updating.
