Monday, January 7, 2013. Observatorium - On A Big Scale. The Observatorium exhibit on a hand cart. Is slowly shifting from thinking and tinker mode to reality. In the meantime, there is a rich, expansive project by the same name I came across in my research. While the reality and trajectory of the concept as a San Francisco Mobile Museum exhibit is of course different, there is a lot of inspirational thinking here. SF Mobile Museum: Dolly In Hand: prototyping the body next week

http://sfmobilemuseum.blogspot.com/2012/05/dolly-in-hand-prototyping-body-next.html

Friday, May 25, 2012. Dolly In Hand: prototyping the body next week. Dog, from uncertainty to ownership. The dolly arrived today and we're going to start building simple cardboard mockups to determine the physical scale for the new Mobile Museum platform. My feeling is that while scaled drawings are great, for something that has multiple hands-on, it's nice to go ahead and try it out in real scale when possible. Sometimes subversivity is desirable. More next week. Posted by San Francisco Mobile Museum.

SF Mobile Museum: Hello Dolly: New Exhibit Platform

http://sfmobilemuseum.blogspot.com/2012/04/hello-dolly-new-exhibit-platform.html

Thursday, April 26, 2012. Hello Dolly: New Exhibit Platform. For our next exhibit, " Observatorium. I've been working on developing a platform that's much more mobile that our first iteration. The old system looked good and worked well, but was best with 2 people helping. I'm going to now unveil the backbone of the our SFMM Exhibit Platform System:. As part of iterating both the exhibit concept and the exhibit platform "renewal," I've been working with artist. Posted by San Francisco Mobile Museum. Stame...

Scott Moulton, an Exhibit Designer at Gyroscope and fan of the SFMM, sent a link to the " Movement Museum, A Creative Field Station for the Study of Movement. Movement Museum is part of an ongoing series out of the Works Progress group in Minneapolis:. SF Mobile Museum: When is it exhibit or art and does it matter?

http://sfmobilemuseum.blogspot.com/2012/01/when-is-it-exhibit-or-art-and-does-it.html

Thursday, January 12, 2012. When is it exhibit or art and does it matter? Walk with me through this one. As I'm working on the next exhibit concept, thoughts like these cross my mind:. How much responsibility do I have to be educational in my exhibits? For example, I'm working on this concept of "Observation". How much am I responsible for educating people about what the universe defines as observation? At what point does it tip into art, and do I need to be declarative about it? When we see "museum" is ...

Thing Tank: I, for one, welcome our new robot overlords.

http://thing-tank.blogspot.com/2012/02/i-for-one-welcome-our-new-robot.html

Well it's whatever I want it to be, isn't it? Wednesday, February 1, 2012. I, for one, welcome our new robot overlords. You know that part in the horror movie where somebody does something that more or less gives the monster a perfect opportunity to eat or dismember you? Skinny dipping alone at midnight. Making out in a graveyard. Playing hide and seek in an old abandoned warehouse. You get the idea. Its almost as creepy as that chainsaw powered robot dog. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Well it's whatever I want it to be, isn't it? Wednesday, December 8, 2010. If you build it they will ride. But in the mean time, I had a burst of optimism when I saw this video about New York's attempt to build it so that they will come. The best part is that riding a bike is a fix for so much of what needs fixing about early 21st century urban life. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). You may also like. Who is this guy? The other day I got to catch up with my friend, and former Stanford TA, Ale Palandjoglou. You might recall me bragging on him. When he won the Core 77 Design Award for Social Impact. Now he's working as an artist in residence at Instructables. This is another project Ale worked on- 3D printed pictures! Robot drums, because they can.

http://thing-tank.blogspot.com/2014/04/robot-apocalypse-update.html

Well it's whatever I want it to be, isn't it? Friday, April 25, 2014. I saw a google self driving car for the first time about a year ago. The guy in the "driver's" seat was blissfully napping. But it was a wake up call for me. A crucial boundary between the computer world and my "meat" world is being breeched. The robots are here. This whole robots running around, willy nilly, thing makes me a little nervous. But its a whole other thing when Frank Baum's Tic Toc. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Well it's whatever I want it to be, isn't it? Thursday, April 14, 2011. Do we need more chairs? If they're like this, then yes. There's something about chairs. How they look and how they work are rather nakedly combined. There's nowhere to hide in a chair. Structure, support, material and gesture are all baked together. The Bouroullec brothers are masters of reinterpreting archetypes in ways that transform them. Their slow chair. Dematerializes the Saarinen's womb lounge. Links to this post. Happy 50th B...

The San Francisco Mobile Museum

The San Francisco Mobile Museum is an experiment. We're playing with short-run exhibits that appear in store fronts, parks and social spaces. They span high participation, locally grown creations, to randomly curated concept-driven exhibits. Next Exhibit in the Hopper:. And a new exhibit platform, Summer/Fall 2012.
