Lighting Candles: Eventful, To Say the Least
http://stlboyles.blogspot.com/2015/08/eventful-to-say-least.html
It is better to light one candle than to curse the darkness. Saturday, August 1, 2015. Eventful, To Say the Least. The week of July 20-24 was quite eventful. Actually, the events started on July 18th, when Emily, Ben, Bluet and Ilona were flying to Missouri from Zurich. Their plane took a detour to London for a few hours, so they missed their connection to St. Louis in Newark. This meant I was all by myself for a night because Scott and the kids left for Georgia the same day. Scott and I did manage to go...

Lighting Candles: End of Summer Fun
http://stlboyles.blogspot.com/2015/08/end-of-summer-fun.html
It is better to light one candle than to curse the darkness. Friday, August 14, 2015. End of Summer Fun. I can't believe we already wrapped up summer. But we had some fun doing it. Scott took both kids to the Muny and I'll post those pictures when I remember to get them from him (which let's face it, might be never). Nate saw Beauty and the Beast and Lila saw Oklahoma! They had a special exhibit on China. One of the areas was a restaurant, where the kids could cook and serve food to the "diners."...We go...

Lighting Candles: Visitors from Switzerland
http://stlboyles.blogspot.com/2015/08/visitors-from-switzerland.html
It is better to light one candle than to curse the darkness. Saturday, August 15, 2015. Thank you for all of the concern and well wishes for my baby brother. I'm happy to say that he is recovering very well from his snake bite and is still very hilarious. (He was ready for the rodeo here.). At the end of last week, Nate, Lila and I went down to Charleston to soak up all the time we could with Emily, Ben, Bluet and Ilona. And yes, somebody always has their clothes off. I guess I was busy talking because I...

Lighting Candles: The Hot Cardinal Game
http://stlboyles.blogspot.com/2015/08/the-hot-cardinal-game.html
It is better to light one candle than to curse the darkness. Thursday, August 13, 2015. The Hot Cardinal Game. To my 3 readers out there, my apologies (especially you, Penny Lou). Turns out it's hard to squeeze in computer time when your children are home for the summer! It's the Cardinals after all. Before venturing into the sauna. I mean, truly. Why does he look 15 already? In the sauna. It was 1:30 PM, 96 degrees with 3 measly clouds in the sky, and no breeze. Oh, hurt my heart:). It was all worth it ...

Lighting Candles: March 2015
http://stlboyles.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
It is better to light one candle than to curse the darkness. Tuesday, March 31, 2015. I made these Cadbury Egg Brownies for the first time last Easter and they will forever be on our Easter menu. I decided to make them on the Sunday before Easter this year so that we would have time to eat them before next Sunday's Easter treats. But they'll be lucky to see Tuesday. I got this recipe from the Mix and Match Mama blog - you can find it here. Make them, make them today. Photo Credit: Mix and Match Mama Blog.

Lighting Candles: Life Lately
http://stlboyles.blogspot.com/2015/07/life-lately.html
It is better to light one candle than to curse the darkness. Thursday, July 16, 2015. I don't have many pictures from last week because, well, we had a monsoon every day. So we couldn't go to the pool, or even outside. It was a little trying on the nerves:) But we survived. One day, in between rain showers, we went on a bike ride since the temperature was cooler. What a difference between last summer and this summer on the bikes - it's actually fairly enjoyable to walk behind while they are riding. July ...

Lighting Candles: August 2015
http://stlboyles.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
It is better to light one candle than to curse the darkness. Thursday, August 27, 2015. I just realized this post is not going to contain any pictures of Nate. He was successful in dodging all my picture taking efforts this past week. Bravo, Nate. Bravo. Lila and I attended a birthday party on Saturday for a friend that goes to her pre-school. It was at the Wabash Frisco Pacific Railroad and we loved it! Lila started soccer on Monday night! She looked a little confused, then said, "Hi Lila! The girls pla...

Lighting Candles: February 2015
http://stlboyles.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
It is better to light one candle than to curse the darkness. Friday, February 27, 2015. Thursday is Baking Day. I like having routines, so I've decided that Thursday is going to be our baking day. And let's face it, when it's 15 degrees and snowing outside, everybody needs a little something to take the edge off. This week, I decided on these red velvet whoopie pies (Recipe from Mix and Match Mama, found here. One of my favorite little bakers! These are so yummy! Monday, February 23, 2015. One word for l...

Lighting Candles: Mimi's Week with Us
http://stlboyles.blogspot.com/2015/08/mimis-week-with-us.html
It is better to light one candle than to curse the darkness. Sunday, August 2, 2015. Mimi's Week with Us. After Nate and Lila spent a week in Georgia, we met Mimi and Paka to get them back in Nashville. We were lucky enough to bring Mimi back to St. Louis with us too! She stayed the week with us while Kevin went back home, and then he joined us on Wednesday so he, Scott and the kids could go on a canoe trip on Thursday (which meant Mimi and I got to have a shopping extravaganza while they were gone!
