Photoartman's World: April 2014
http://michaeljcarl.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
Latest news, rants, and musings by fine art photographer Michael J Carl. Tuesday, April 15, 2014. Stayed up late last night to watch the blood moon. At about 1:30 am I got some great photos from my backyard. A little Lightroom and Photoshop work this morning and I have a rather nice image. I wish this was the view from my backyard, but it isn't. I had to composite the moon with an image of the rims but I think it works. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Billings, Montana, United States. View my complete profile.

The work is a collaboration between wet plate photographer S. Gayle Stevens. And pinhole camera maker Judy Sherrod. For the last two years the two have worked together on Nocturnes. After the exposure is made, the plate is whisked back to the dark room to be processed and varnished. Is on view at The Kiernan Gallery through July 30, 2014.

Photoartman's World: Out of Hibernation
http://michaeljcarl.blogspot.com/2014/02/out-of-hibernation_28.html
Latest news, rants, and musings by fine art photographer Michael J Carl. Friday, February 28, 2014. I guess it is ironic that the day I finally come out of hibernation with a new post is also the first day of a multi-day snow storm. I have a couple of announcements that I am kind of proud of - the publication of a small photography book entitled Hosta Studies through the MagCloud website. Check out the link below. And one of those hosta images was included in a prestigious show. View my complete profile.

Photoartman's World: March 2014
http://michaeljcarl.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Latest news, rants, and musings by fine art photographer Michael J Carl. Monday, March 10, 2014. This winter I have worked on a lot of images, but haven't shared them. Over the next couple of weeks I will rectify that. To start off I have some chokecherry leaf images that are interesting. Just before the leaves fall they get very brittle. Weird shapes start appearing and its at this time I take out my camera. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Billings, Montana, United States. View my complete profile.

Others take planning and preparation but then again become visible right in front of you. Others get stuck in your head and look for a way out - like this image. Thank God for Photoshop! Latest news, rants, and musings by fine art photographer Michael J Carl. Wednesday, July 24, 2013. Last week in Sioux Falls. The highlight though was a trip with my niece Lexi to CH Patisserie. Top Chef Just Desserts season two winner Chris Hanmer just opened this restaurant in downtown Sioux Falls and the desserts are incredible! I had a tart and Lexi a mound of what seemed like pure chocolate. It was silky smooth - a must have for all chocolate lovers! Thursday, July 11, 2013. Friday, July 5, 2013.

I help out with the satellite show exhibited at the Whiskey Bonding Barn in Molena, Georgia. It is a great space for an exhibit. I have had the joy to work with John Bennette. The call for entries is going on right now for SlowExposures. The deadline to enter is June 16. Oh and the workshop this year - S. Gayle Stevens. And the wet plate. Link to Call for Entry. There's no limi...
