Healthy, Safe & Warm Event. SGNS is 20 years old! SGNS runs monthly trips and outings to a variety of locations. Pick-ups, coach transport and lunch are included in the price. Trips and outings enable older people to leave their local environment and visit different places, widening their social boundaries. Our events calendar for the forthcoming months include:. Wentworth Garden Centre in Rotherham awaits us this month, after lunch there will be chance to browse the various plants and gifts.

Healthy, Safe & Warm Event. SGNS is 20 years old! Our Line Dancing classes run on a Tuesday and Thursday between 11am and 1pm at Swarcliffe Community Centre. The classes aim to provide a fun and gentle excercise to music, where local residents can meet, socialise and have a good time. Each class costs 3.00 and includes refreshments. No experience is necessary, so why not come along and see what it’s all about?

Healthy, Safe & Warm Event. SGNS is 20 years old! Our Computer Cafe runs each Thursday between 11am and 1pm. The informal sessions provide a relaxed and unpressurised environment in which older people can learn basic computer skills starting with turning a computer on and using a mouse, to letter writing, sending emails, using the internet and uploading digital photographs. Our patient and understanding tutor is very supportive and can tailor sessions to meet individual need.

Volunteers can give up as much time as they wish and choose when they wish to give it. 8220;Volunteers can be anyone with a warm and friendly personality, respect and sensitivity to others”. Whether amateur or experienced, everyone is welcome to join the Knit and Knatter group, we meet every other Wednesday in Swarcliffe Community Centre between 1pm and 4pm. The group gives people the opportunity to get together whilst enjoying refreshments. Transport is available to those who can’t make it to the centre themselves.

Healthy, Safe & Warm Event. SGNS is 20 years old! The Gardening Service significantly enhances the quality of older peoples lives because having a house with an overgrown garden means they are at a greater risk from bogus callers, burglary, hassle and pestering. The service runs from 1st April until 31st October and costs 15/hour. At present we can mow lawns and trim hedges back, neatening the overall appearance of many gardens.

Provide advice and information over the phone or in person. Assist in filling in forms. Visit people in their homes. Advocate on behalf of people. Assist with letter writing. Offer a Tuesday morning drop-in. Signpost to other services. Produce a quarterly newsletter.
