I was born March 5th, 1961 at around 4 in the afternoon. The story I've been told is that My dad had my four siblings at a park flying a kite and my Mother had to take a cab to the hospital. I was about 7 weeks early and weighed 3.5 pounds. I've put a few pounds on since then. I have two brothers and two sisters. In order of birth, Sally Spencer Powell, who lives in Cary NC. Susan Spencer Butler of Salem VA, William Robert Spencer Jr of Roanoke VA, and Joel Thomas Spencer of Roanoke VA.

My brother Joel won the Soap Box Derby in 1965 at Roanoke VA. The entire family went to Akron Ohio for the National Championships. That's me sitting on Fess Parkers (Daniel Boone) lap. The man holding the ham is Frankie Avalon. My sister Sally to his left had just given him the ham. My Dad, William Robert Spencer Sr. 1942 Parris Island SC. Dad passed away in 2004, not a day goes by I don't think about him and wish he was here to talk to. Dad somewhere around 1926-1930. Dad, My brother Bill, and me.

In the above picture are pilots from VMF-213 The "Hellhawks" My father was an Aviation Ordinanceman with this squadron. This is a shot of Marine Air Group 11on Henderson Field in Guadacanal. My father is 3rd from right 1st row. My Dad on right Parris Island 1942. Weapon is a Sprinfield 30.06. After training with this weapon, it was taken away enroute to the Pacific and they where given M1 Garrands. VMF Pilots when first deployed of the 32 men in this picture, 17 where killed. Army Sergeant Jan Michael Argonish, a Soldier from the Pennsylvania National Guard, was killed on August 27, 2007 during an ambush in Afghanistan. He was 26 years old and a 10 year veteran of the PA Guard with two previous activations to his credit, serving on Active Duty during Operation Noble Eagle and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
