David Powell's Blog. Some thoughts, reviews, writings and links. Skip to primary content. Reviewing Notes to Self by Avery Sawyer. Not an average book, this story takes on the complexities of feeling guilt, of loving and being fearful of not being loved, of the pain of being teenager but expected to have adult perceptions. So absorbing is this that I feel I could recommend the book to adults as well. So, I shall stick to recommending it as a a bloody good read. I shall read more of this author. Notify me...

David Powell's Blog. Some thoughts, reviews, writings and links. Skip to primary content. A post nuclear scenario by Thom Stark. Stark takes the obvious major players, POTUS and some Senators, Congressmen, as well as Generals and other high ranking officers of the US military machine, (overt and covert) and introduces them deftly and shows the mighty machine that is the US responding such an attack. And, of course, I cannot know, let alone predict how or what would happen. Stark also builds into to this ...

David Powell's Blog. Some thoughts, reviews, writings and links. Skip to primary content. Is this the worst Y.A. Novel ever written? Reviewing the eponymously titled ‘Anathema’ by K. A Tucker is not easy, because after several determined efforts I could not finish it, which, in a way, I suppose, is a defeat. We have ‘charcoal eyes’, ‘steely blue eyes’, ‘cold, spidery eyes’, (perhaps a special award for that one? Piercing green eyes. Pity the optician. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here.

Honestly, I bought this book by accident, thinking it was written by a different David Grossman, (whose mother I know). Is it possible, even for a fleeting moment, to call to the dead and free them from their death? Which gives, in fairness, an accurate taste of what it is about, falling out of time. And besides, I’m sur...
