History of the Belgian d'Uccle. Butterscotch Call Drake and Duck. Snowy Call Duck and Drake. Although the Snowys remain a little larger than other varieties amongst most breeders including myself, my birds are well-proportioned and have beautiful iridescent speculums - males as well as females. The 2003 hatching season should yield smaller birds since I've had some success in getting the overall size down in 2002. Click on each photo to view the individual Variety pages. The Belgian d'Uccle Bantam. The first varieties of Belgian d’Uccles were the Mille Fleur, Porcelain, and White, but the Mille Fleur was the first variety entered into the American Poultry Association's Standards of Perfection in 1914. This was thirty-five years after the entrance of the Booted Bantam (a distinctly different breed from the Belgian d'Uccle). I mention this because sometimes the Booted Bantam and the Belgian d'Uccle are confused with one another.

Belgian Bearded d'Uccle Rooster in Gold Neck. Heads up my breeding pen for Gold Neck Belgian Bearded d'Uccles. These are three of Scotty's promising young sons still in youth feathers. Notice that they have picked up Scotty's 'type' and foot feathering. The one on the far right is much younger than the other two. Congratulations to the young cockerel in the center! He won Best of Breed and Best of Variety at Connersville, IN - a State meet for d'Uccles - on December 1st!

After nearly fifteen years of answering poultry health questions, I’ve realized one thing. Having healthy chickens, turkeys, or ducks/geese – whatever – and preventing more work and heartache, really boils down to getting back to basics. For example, do you use a medicated feed to help your birds build a resistance to Coccidiosis?

It is important to know your zoning and possible set-back requirements and flock size allowed. Call to check at the phone numbers below for the cities listed.
