Bob Studholme Writing: Another revision
http://bobstudholmewriting.blogspot.com/2013/02/another-revision.html
Monday, 18 February 2013. Prologue - The Castle. The moon shines on the river and the castle. The day, June 2nd, 1915, has been unusually hot; the walls of the castle soaking up more sun than they can easily absorb. Windows gape wide to let the night's breezes cool the interior. Those asleep inside fall to more peaceful slumber as the walls breathe out heat and sweat dries from bodies. One a man; the other a woman. True, but look closer; there is more to them than that. You have it now, don’t you? At the...

Bob Studholme Writing: Two bits I did for The Source
http://bobstudholmewriting.blogspot.com/2013/01/two-bits-i-did-of-source.html
Friday, 18 January 2013. Two bits I did for The Source. This is on the issue of single sex education. Music – an extra, or an essential? Unless your child is going to become a concert musician, argue some, then music lessons are only for fun and can distract children from 'serious' studies. In the case of classes which require the children to be pulled out of another class for individual tuition, these people would argue, it can positively hurt their education by taking time away from the real work.

Bob Studholme Writing: January 2012
http://bobstudholmewriting.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Saturday, 28 January 2012. The pic is one of Smailholm Pele Tower. It has absolutely nothing to do with the story of Brendan Earle,I just found it on the Internet, liked it and thought it would look good. That does partly have to do with it having a lot of sky in it where I could put the title, but isn't all. A bit of advertising. For a change I'm advertising Mike Green, rather than me. This:. Bob Studholme Writing: April 2012
http://bobstudholmewriting.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Monday, 30 April 2012. I’d been worried about the landing, but it was easy, the cloak did most of it for me. I wondered if Sylvester had made them give me one that would. It’s supposed to take a while to learn to fly with a cloak, but Malaika would already have done it, so it’d be odd if I was here and couldn’t. Apart from the smell of the dung small kids were scraping off the roads…. It was eaten from heavy wooden plates with heavy metal knives and forks that looked handforged. I couldn’t begrudge...

Bob Studholme Writing: June 2012
http://bobstudholmewriting.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
Sunday, 24 June 2012. Forgive me Blog, for I have sinned. It's been bloody ages since I last posted. Just not feeling like it really. No good excuse or reason for that. I do have things to write about. Having seen Iron Sky being just one of them. Anyway, how was it? Labels: Bob Studholmes Reviews. Friday, 15 June 2012. I got a review! Mary Catherine on Goodreads http:/ www.goodreads.com/user/show/9295595-mary-catherine. Gave me 3/5 stars and wrote the following:. Though the book is written as excerpts fr...

Bob Studholme Writing: February 2012
http://bobstudholmewriting.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 21 February 2012. On 'bad' English and what it reveals. The dwarves of the Land, known here as Duergars, speak Solomon Island Pidgin. I'm still not sure if I've got a decent reason why it should be that in the terms of the book, but that it is some sort of pidgin is because it makes them look dim. They aren't, but that's the way the world tends to think, isn't it? For now think on the fact that the servants in this story speak 'broken English' and think why someone would do that. A few commenter...

Bob Studholme Writing: October 2012
http://bobstudholmewriting.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 30 October 2012. New, new, new. My first new idea for a story in ages. I've had lots of ideas for the sequels to Brendan, though they don't all join together as well as I'd like them, so are going down in print very slowly. To help me play with the structure and polish the writing. This might be a bit early to start doing that, but I wanted to play with the programme and I'm very happy with the results. Sadly, I didn't keep a copy of the first draft I produced to compare it with. Wearing clothes...
