Hamlet - Mr. A's Shakespeare Adaptations

http://www.shakespeareadaptations.com/2.html

Hamlet is Shakespeare's longest and one of his most complex plays. The tragedy of Hamlet, indecisive as he seeks revenge for the death of his father, is one of Shakespeare's best known and most-parodied works. Parts of this play can be exceedingly difficult for anyone. Even Samuel Taylor Coleridge, the famous author of Kublai Khan. And The Rime of the Ancient Mariner. Was forced to confess about one passage, in which Hamlet is speaking to Rosencrantz and Guildenstern. I do not understand this.". Whether ...

Romeo & Juliet - Mr. A's Shakespeare Adaptations

http://www.shakespeareadaptations.com/6.html

Now old desire doth in his death-bed lie,. And young affection gapes to be his heir;. That fair for which love groan'd for and would die,. With tender Juliet match'd, is now not fair. Now Romeo is beloved and loves again,. Alike bewitched by the charm of looks,. But to his foe supposed he must complain,. And she steal love's sweet bait from fearful hooks:. Being held a foe, he may not have access. To breathe such vows as lovers use to swear;. And she as much in love, her means much less. Choose the ONLY ...

Julius Caesar - Mr. A's Shakespeare Adaptations

http://www.shakespeareadaptations.com/3.html

Here is Shakespeare's version of those final words of Caesar:. I must prevent thee, Cimber. These couchings and these lowly courtesies. Might fire the blood of ordinary men,. And turn pre-ordinance and first decree. Into the law of children. Be not fond,. To think that Caesar bears such rebel blood. That will be thaw'd from the true quality. With that which melteth fools; I mean, sweet words,. Low-crooked court'sies and base spaniel-fawning. Thy brother by decree is banished:. Will he be satisfied. That ...

Macbeth - Mr. A's Shakespeare Adaptations

http://www.shakespeareadaptations.com/4.html

Macbeth, the story of the King of Scotland who seized power by murder and kept it with more of the same, has fascinated audiences since it first appeared on stage. The seventeen years of Macbeth's reign are compressed into just five acts, and so this play moves very fast, from start to finish. Here's Shakespeare's version of Macbeth's soliloquy in Act Three, Scene 1, in which he's worrying about the challenges posed to his rule by Banquo and stating his resolve to do something about these challenges:.

Shakespeare a la Sexon

Shakespeare a la Sexon. Wednesday, April 26, 2006. Other things that I wish I had said earlier: Jan Kott is amazing. When I have had trouble getting into a play (Read: Lear), Kott finds a way to make the whole thing interesting. I will admit that I did not know I was supposed to incorporate thoughts on the critical essays pertaining to the plays we were reading, so I did not add comments on Kott's comments. I will rectify this now, although not to the extent I would have liked. So, Kott in a nutshell.
