What you see when you look too close. Tuesday, December 30, 2014. There is an article on CNet that has fantastic writing. The journalist found a modestly newsworthy topic, did his homework, and then dropped some amazing prose into our world. I just about died laughing as I read it. The incongruity of the writer's style with the content is priceless. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Tuesday, December 16, 2014. My Speck of the Maelstrom. Monday, April 20, 2015. Thoughts on recent movie trailers. So, this week seems to be the week for movie trailers. Star Wars, Jurassic World, Batman vs. Superman, Fantastic 4 - it's like all the potential blockbusters of the year released a new trailer within the last 4 days. Some trailers upped my excitement. So, my thoughts on the trailer? The new trailer still gave no hint of a plot. It was all, "Yay! And, of course, "OMGOMGOMG! Holy crap, what happened to Han's face? So, the...

My Speck of the Maelstrom: Pregnancy Update!
http://atreelessgrasslandinaforest.blogspot.com/2015/08/pregnancy-update.html
My Speck of the Maelstrom. Monday, August 10, 2015. 1) My twins have passed the viability landmark! 24 weeks is the point where the doctors will try to save them if they're born prematurely, as they have a 30-50% chance of survival. I'm at 25 weeks, which is a solid 50%. This would be a bigger deal if I were having signs of preterm labor (I'm not. at all), but it's still a significant milestone to cross. Update: I took the 2nd test, and I don't have diabetes. Bring on the cupcakes! 3) That said, I don't.

What you see when you look too close. Sunday, July 26, 2015. Tech] Eve Pendant, Phase 2. For an upcoming Disney-themed event that my wife and I will be attending, I decided that she needed something really really special to wear. One of her favorite Disney characters is Eve, from Wall-E (YouTube link). And, well, I realized that her face was an awful lot like OLED screens I'd seen. Once I found the Adafruit tutorial for an OLED necklace. I was hooked. I was totally doing it. Problem One: Screen Selection.

My Speck of the Maelstrom. Saturday, April 4, 2015. Okay, first of all, TWINS! I'm going to dress them in matching outfits, take nauseatingly adorable pictures, cuddle their little faces, and suddenly have TWO babies instead of none! Also, I'm terrified. Mostly, it's the third trimester that scares me. I know twins are common enough that women go through this all the time, but. but. one baby in there is uncomfortable enough. How. Do women do it with two? This morning I woke up in a near-panic over it.

This side has a simple, two-color design on it reminiscent of its cousins for bio, chemical, and radiation hazards, but about twice as frightening: memetic hazard. You see, just because it's information doesn't mean it's not dangerous. Even through the double-walled duralloy chamber, it aches. Subject. In this case,...

The writer had a blast writing it. The results are tasty, even reheated at work. :). Why am I posting this? It keeps getting dropped from my wife's Pinterest board, which is super annoying. :-( I might have to find or write an app that keeps track of her boards that will alert her to vanished pins.
