How is home care paid for? Home health care is paid for in a variety of ways including:. Medicare – the federal government’s health insurance programs for people 65 and older or certain people with disabilities. Medicaid – a state funded program for people without commercial medical coverage. Medicaid usually provides limited home care benefits. Managed care plans and commercial health plans.
