As I whizzed through Customs, Doug was stopped and then taken aside by several agents. They then moved him to a quarantined area while deciding next steps. Doug, the consummate salesman, tried to make light of the situation: So guys, what are we doin’ here? She was not charmed. She replied, dead-panned: We are sending you back. Doug got deported. Our first trip to Shanghai wasn’t without a lot of emotions, but Doug was an absolute angel, planning incredible date nights and introducing me to our new city in style! While we had a lot of fun, we also had a lot on our agenda. I was interviewing with eBay and we also had some serious house-hunting to do. We were lucky enough to find our new home in our first trip!
