eliyak: Little Snail
http://eliyak.blogspot.com/2011/09/little-snail.html
Keeping in touch with the good things in life. Friday, September 16, 2011. When I got home from work this evening the grass was wet from the rain. It was dark, so it wasn't until I got inside under the dim lights of my basement apartment that I noticed a little friend who had attached himself to my shoe. So, I had to document this little guy before I released him onto the leaf of a tulip plant. I wonder how long it will take him to grow into a big snail. What do snails even eat? I sure would like to know.

eliyak: The Peace of Wild Things
http://eliyak.blogspot.com/2011/10/peace-of-wild-things.html
Keeping in touch with the good things in life. Sunday, October 30, 2011. The Peace of Wild Things. My professor read this poem to us this week and I really liked it. A friend told me recently that I worry too much and that I shouldn't pollute my life so much with worries about things that, 90% of which, aren't even going to happen. So, I'm trying to cure myself of my addiction to worry. I thought this poem related well. It's called "The Peace of Wild Things:". When despair grows in me. I study graphic de...

The Deery 'not-so' Daily: December 2014
http://deeryfamily.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
The Deery 'not-so' Daily. The happenings of Julia and Spencer. Are we really interesting enough to have a blog? Wednesday, December 17, 2014. Between an older brother who is very high maintenance and a baby who is obviously an attention hog she sits (mostly) patiently. She is my darling girl. Her favorite thing whenever we come home from being out is to go sit wedged between the wall and the couch on top of a vent when the heat is blowing while she reads a book. I wish I could do the same. Both Liam and ...

The Deery 'not-so' Daily: 6 years

The Deery 'not-so' Daily. The happenings of Julia and Spencer. Are we really interesting enough to have a blog? Sunday, August 2, 2015. Wow, am I late on this. I blame summer and the fact that with 3 kids at home-only one of whom naps with any regularity-I just don't have much time to sit at a computer. Liam turned 6 waaaay back in May. His latest interest is outer space, so he wanted an outer space themed birthday. Here is his Jupiter cake. I talked him down from a "whole solar system cake". His also LO...

perfect in weakness: January 2015
http://onlyperfectinweakness.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
January 2, 2015. The struggle is real. Hello, 2015 . . . and hello to the blogosphere, after a long hiatus. Last summer I started baking more and decorating cakes, which has consumed most of my free time - and this blog took a hit. I honestly don't know what direction to take this in . . . it's fun to think of having a baking blog, or to post cake pictures here too. But again - the time issue. Every now and then I feel the urge to write, so I'm just going with it. Has it all figured out? One of my friend...

perfect in weakness: August 2014
http://onlyperfectinweakness.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
August 7, 2014. Not a piece of cake. I love my job. I love my co-workers. I even love to bake them cakes ;). The place that tests my patience more than anywhere else in my life is at work. If you work at a teaching hospital, you know what I mean. Anywho, I caught myself becoming impatient, irritated and frustrated. In the moment, I tried to dissect these feelings and get to the bottom of it all - why am I feeling this way? Do I truly care that this person is looking at me like I'm an idiot? Rich in mercy,.

perfect in weakness: March 2014
http://onlyperfectinweakness.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
March 31, 2014. When my faith feels small. Yesterday morning I had one of those moments where my faith felt small, weak, feeble. I always remember a quote from Tim Keller - it's not the strength of your faith that saves you, but the object of your faith. All that I could focus on was my own shortcomings, my sin, my struggles. It's in those moments that God draws us back to His promises and we can find assurance in the only rock, the only firm foundation. This passage/excerpt stuck out to me:. He promises...
