My blog about decorating, DIY projects, travel and thrifting. Tuesday, October 04, 2011. Had to resort to talking to the sea gulls. . . My blog was hacked into and it has been a royal pain getting it back up and running. I have missed all of you blogging friends so much. What did I ever do before blogging? I can't wait to visit and see what all of you have been up to. The gulls aren't much when it comes to conversation. When the bread runs out they just look at me really bored and fly away.

My blog about decorating, DIY projects, travel and thrifting. Saturday, February 16, 2013. Separate from his creations. He stirs up the sea with His power, and by His understanding He breaks up the storm . these are the mere edges of His ways. Job 26:12, 14. Now, as an adult, I continue to marvel at the beauty of His creation. It is at the seashore in the early morning sun or late evening sunset, after most of the folks have gone off to seek adventure elsewhere that I feel most at peace. I loved the colo...

Uncovering creativity at home. Restoration Hardware Inspired Rustic Shelves. July 20, 2015. Earlier this year I read Marie Kondo’s The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up. This book. It motivated me to go through the house and get rid of items that didn’t “spark joy.” It was liberating as Kondo gave me the power to let go of items I was holding onto for far too long. I then started to look at everything in the house differently asking myself does this “spark joy.”. So I started a little project to get rid ...

Decorating the Cottage for Fall - Cottage at the Crossroads

Garden Tips and Tutorials. Cottage at the Crossroads. Decorating the Cottage for Fall. October 11, 2012. I’ve been doing a little decorating for fall around the cottage. This is a sofa table that sits behind the love seat in our living room. I used the same white lanterns that I used in our summer mantel. I just changed them up for fall by adding a little ribbon, some artificial berries and leaves. The dough tray got loaded up with artificial acorns of all different sizes. This black cat dressed for Hall...

From HATE to GREAT: A tale of painting oak cabinets. If you follow Practically Spoiled, you’ll see I’m on a mission of complete oak-elimination from my house. (See my gel stained oak banister makeover here. When we bought our house, the kitchen was partially upgraded: nice new travertine floors, not-my-first choice granite and an “eh” backsplash. But the elephant in the room was the flaming orange, grainy, ugly – yet good condition, solid wood oak cabinets. SIGH. A scrubby sponge and gloves for cleaning.
