Energy Secretary Ed Davey yesterday announced that in future all energy bills will carry QR codes, which will allow consumers to quickly see where they can get a cheaper deal. Davey added that forcing providers to add codes to bills would give people “quick, straightforward way to compare the best deal for them with a simple swipe of their phone”. Put in pin code on phone.

Twitter today responded to calls to make it easier for people to report abusive messages received through its service, pledging to introduce a ‘report abuse’ button. While the Police’s social media lead called for the company to make further changes to the platform to prevent abuse. In the past three days, over 50,000 people have signed the petition.

A sunny afternoon at Dog Beach in Coronado reminded me how to find contentment. The dogs here come in lots of sizes and shapes and colors. They zig-zag along every which way. They find joy in lots of different ways, too. Some run through the waves, chasing toys. Some hang out with friends. Some trot along, slowed by age . . .
