Mom's Bread - Candace Shaw

Fried Halloumi with Tomato Sauce. January 13, 2015. One of the best things about visiting home is my mom’s bread – fresh, homemade, and delicious. She makes this recipe at least once a week, freezing two of the loaves to preserve their freshness until they’re ready to be eaten. They keep pretty well for a week or so in the freezer, probably longer. Great as toast or for sandwiches, this is a nice flexible recipe. Yumprint-recipe id=’13’]Yum! Tagged with →. Bull; How to. I write articles and I get annoyed when people call them blog posts or rants. Generally people seem to like them. Here are some of those, broken into categories. I had a bit of a website issues a while ago, so the formatting is a little fucked up, and I’m getting around to fixing it. Bear with me. Or send me a patient intern. Lemon Winter Warmer - Candace Shaw

On not getting grants or gigs. February 7, 2015. Middot; Add Comment. This Lemon Winter Warmer recipe is based on a drink that I’d been making for a while, but then altered once I tried the ‘Citrus Booster’ that they serve at Balzac’s Coffee. There’s a Balzac’s near my office in the Distillery District. I originally made it with honey, but I like the flavour of the maple syrup much better. Don’t even dream of using that weird fake table syrup garbage – real maple syrup only! Tagged with →. Bull; vitamin c.

Theatre and Film Work. On not getting grants or gigs. July 30, 2015. Middot; Add Comment. The work I do means saying “No” a lot more than “Yes.” Whether I’m working as a booker or jurying a grant or award, the ability to say no clearly, politely, and unequivocally is one of the most valuable skills I’ve developed. As AD of the Peterborough Folk Festival, I’d generally get about 700-1000 [.]. February 7, 2015. Middot; Add Comment. February 2, 2015. Middot; Add Comment. January 27, 2015. Middot; Add Comment.

Theatre and Film Work. Roasted Cauliflower with Sesame Seed Oil. August 21, 2016. Middot; Add Comment. Easy and delicious (though admittedly not beautiful), I made Roasted Cauliflower with Sesame Seed Oil last night and ended up eating almost an entire head of cauliflower by myself. Technically I guess it’s a side dish, and a super-tasty one, but it’s the kind of thing I’m likely to eat as a main, because it’s quick [.]. Canning Peaches – Hot Pack Method. August 9, 2016. Sweet Potato Salad with Orange-Maple Dressing. January 19, 2015. Middot; Add Comment. Making Avocados are kind-of a major staple of my diet these days; I don’t eat a lot of meat,. And they make a good stand-in for the hearty part of a meal. Though they are annoyingly finicky,. I usually have them around for sandwiches and things. Fried Halloumi with Tomato Sauce - Candace Shaw
http://candaceshaw.ca/fried-halloumi-with-tomato-sauce
Not too shabby, 2014! Fried Halloumi with Tomato Sauce. January 2, 2015. Middot; Add Comment. Halloumi is one of those cheeses that holds shape when it heats, going gorgeously soft inside and crisping up a little on the outside rather than going gooey-melty. Fried Halloumi with Tomato Sauce is a nice, simple dish that works best in the Summer, when all of the fresh ingredients are at their peak flavour. Traditionally, fried halloumi is served with watermelon and mint, and though that’s certainly so...
