Tuesday, July 27, 2010. Shawn Giamei is a lively, happy, smart 2 1/2 yr old boy in Queen Creek, AZ. Recently Shawn was diagnosed with Wilm's Tumor. The surgeons at Phoenix Children's Hospital removed Shawn's kidney, along with a 2.5 lb tumor. Further scanning revealed spots in Shawn's lung. The doctors decided to treat this aggresively in hopes of defeating this cancer. All of the above extras are vital to Shawn's recovery. Link to the pictures. Watermark template. Powered by Blogger.

Monday, August 9, 2010. Shawn is four weeks into chemo treatments. He goes in for chemo every week and a round every three weeks. We have a round tomorrow 8-9-10. Rounds hit him a lot harder because of the over load of drugs killing cells. His bone scan came back clean from cancer. We are waiting for results on the LOH. Test, which is a test that shows the genetic make up of the tumor. We need there to be no LOH. Link to the pictures. Watermark template. Powered by Blogger.

Friday, February 4, 2011. Each day, the pain continued to get worse. In the past week I have taken vicoden, percocet, tylenol, valium, ativan.ANYTHING I could find to stop the pain. It was horrible and NOTHING cut the pain! I wonder why the hardcore drugs wouldn't cut the pain, but ibuprofen would. I hope that it doesn't come back as I really can't take anymore ibu. Now that the pain is tolerable, I feel back to my old self! I am so glad things are finally looking up. :). Claire} 5 days new.

Thursday, January 27, 2011. It has been such a long time since I have written anything. Since my last post, I have almost completed my reconstruction process. The week after my final surgery (in September), I found out that the cancer has spread :(. I am doing what I can to get past the depression. Monday, February 1, 2010. Radiation is now complete! I am so happy that I don't have to get up early and drive down Ironwood with the crazy morning rush hour traffic any more. I was really starting to get nervous.I can't tell you how many times I was nearly rear ended. The skin on my side is peeling horribly. It is no longer bright purple/red, but a very dark tan look.
