Server-side means that it can only be operated on the server and threfore cannot be made to work on your home computer unless programs are installed that provide a server environment on your computer. I shall be discussing this at a later date but for practical purposes let us consider how PHP is used on the server.

The HTML is written using only basic commands for things like font parameters, tables and the like. CSS adds the look. There are so many good tutorials for CSS on the web and it’s worth looking around for one that suits you. I would suggest that you visit w3Schools.com. They have excellent tutorials on several programming languages.
