A Beginner's Guide to Sheffield: Transports Exceptionnels
http://sheffield-for-beginners.blogspot.com/2008/09/transports-exceptionnels.html
A Beginner's Guide to Sheffield. Life, Sheffield and Everything. Monday, 29 September 2008. The new season of Danceworks. Started in style this weekend. We joined the crowd on the fairly recently revamped Devonshire Green to watch a highly unusual piece of dance. Transports Exceptionnels, by French choreographer Dominique Boivin, was described by the Danceworks brochure as. A tender love duet for dancer and mechanical digger". Strangely enough, that's exactly what it was. Danceworks Autumn 2008 Brochure.

A Beginner's Guide to Sheffield: May 2008

A Beginner's Guide to Sheffield. Life, Sheffield and Everything. Thursday, 15 May 2008. My journey to work is brightened every morning by the fantastic landscaping around parts of the new section of Inner Relief Road. I don't know who is responsible for the planting, but they have done a great job, as soon as one thing starts to fade, something new appears. I quite enjoy stopping at the traffic lights now, because it gives me a chance to look at the view! Comments on the original post. Monday, 12 May 2008.

A Beginner's Guide to Sheffield: Trio
http://sheffield-for-beginners.blogspot.com/2008/09/trio.html
A Beginner's Guide to Sheffield. Life, Sheffield and Everything. Monday, 8 September 2008. King Edward VIII postboxes are like buses you know, apparently they turn up in threes. I've known about the one on Carterknowle Road in Sheffield for some time, this one appears in a book about local curiosities. So that started me thinking about yesterday's post. Sorry - bad pun not intended). Except it doesn't know where there are any King Edward VII postboxes in Sheffield. Which referred to this leaflet. Who has...

Sheffield's First Air Raid - 25th September 1916. There is no such thing as a non-combatant in this war. David Lloyd George. The raid occurred on the night of Monday 25th September 1916 when a single Zeppelin dropped 36 bombs in a line between Burngreave and through Attercliffe to Darnall. The Zeppelin in question was a German Naval Zeppelin L22. That was under the command of Kapitanleutnant. Photo of the German Zeppelin L22 which bombed Sheffield - 25th September 1916. Easy Retirement: The Time Comes - Nina Gordon
http://easyretirement.blogspot.com/2015/07/the-time-comes-nina-gordon.html
Wednesday, 8 July 2015. The Time Comes - Nina Gordon. Track 13 on Nina Gordon's bleeding heart Graffiti. Is the brilliant The Time Comes. There are no lyrics in the album sleeve and no website has got them right. So here they are:. I wait for the day to break me. I look up to the sky. I look back on the life that graced me. When you were mine. And then it goes then it goes away. Don’t try to read the silence. Don’t try to live it down. 8216;Cause I’ve learned a thing or two about patience. Simple templat...

Easy Retirement: July 2015

Wednesday, 29 July 2015. Tring Book Club - All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr. I would have normally avoided a novel set before and during WW2, starting in 1934 and alternating at the beginning between six year old Marie-Laure in Paris and Werner, a German orphan. But their stories over the next ten years are brilliantly realised in wonderful, short, punchy chapters. All The Light We Cannot See. Wednesday, July 29, 2015. Links to this post. Easy Retirement: January 2015
http://easyretirement.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 28 January 2015. Memories of the Odeon Hammersmith now the Eventim Apollo. My visit to the Hammersmith Apollo to see First Aid Kit reminded me that the first time I went to this venue was over fifty one years ago. In 2010 I wrote the following on this blog. The one show I missed was the Beatles. They played 38 shows over 21 nights in late 64/early 65. I had heard that you couldn't hear the music for the screaming and that put me off. But I really should have gone. Wednesday, January 28, 2015.

Easy Retirement: September 2014

Tuesday, 16 September 2014. Lucy, Before I Go To Sleep and A Most Wanted Man. It was good to see a movie written and directed by Luc Besson. Maybe not his best, but Lucy. I described S J Watson's first book as being an unsettling but brilliant read. Before I Go To Sleep. Another movie of a book I enjoyed. This time John Le Carre's A Most Wanted Man.
