An unusual concert based on themes of nonsense and fancy. Saturday 21st July 2012 at 3.00pm. Mission now complete, after the successful performance. Many thanks to those who came to hear us - we have had nothing but good feedback (so-far! And we got a Fringe Award. Link to Festive Fancies. Choir - Sheffield Lydian Singers. A mixed choir of 15 voices, plus guest performer Peter Taylor. Instruments - a 5-piece wind ensemble (3 x clarinet, 1 x trombone, 1 x euphonium). Directed by John Kilpatrick.

A musical mélange of reflections and recollections by the voices and instruments that brought you the 2012 award-winning Humour in Harmony. A choral collage ranging from a Festival Gloria in the Latin language, through divers distractions, to John Kilpatrick’s Edward Lear suite The Story of the Jumblies. The performance was a success, though we didn't get an award or a nomination this year. See the Fringe review. A mixed choir of 14 voices.

I was born in Oxford in 1941, and at the age of seven was given a place in Christ Church Cathedral Choir. The family had moved to West Cumberland, so I was a boarder from that young age). There I sang treble for six years; and continued to sing for another 60 years or so, first bass and then tenor, though never with as good a voice as I had as a treble.
