Most Epiplatys prefer to feed and dwell in the upper 1/3 of the tank. Despite the big trap door mouth they are usually peaceful and not agressive. Other than the annulatus (1-1.5 inches) most are 2 to 3 inches in length.

Currently I am using three rooms. Click on any thumbnail below for a larger view. The main warm water room (74 to 78 degrees C) contains about 90 tanks, mostly breeding pairs in 5.5 and 10 gal tanks, with a few critter carrier tanks and 2 gal tanks. The second room (my wife's laundry room)contains fifteen 20 gal tanks and three 15 gal tanks for grow out of warm water fish (75 deg typical).

They eat a lot and the water was sometimes not in the best conditions - no problem anyway - they grew up quick. He was very rough with his three females - I lost one female soon after I put the male into the tank.
