Sheri Doyle: July 2012

http://sheridoyle.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html

Reading, writing, reflecting on children's literature. Tuesday, July 31, 2012. A little over a week ago, we travelled north for an hour and a half to visit the Georgian Bay area for a few days. Once there, we enjoyed the sun and beaches, the pines and poplars, and a movie outside under the stars. We never tire of this scene, interrupting each other in conversation to point and say, “Look! 8221; and the teenagers in the backseats exclaiming a combined “Aww! You can preview the books at the Capstone website.

Sheri Doyle: December 2012

http://sheridoyle.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html

Reading, writing, reflecting on children's literature. Friday, December 21, 2012. Poetry Friday: a poem and a song. I just noticed that “light” is a theme for many of the Poetry Friday posts. By coincidence, I am sharing a poem about light by William Butler Yeats. Aedh Wishes for the Cloths of Heaven. By William Butler Yeats. Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths,. Enwrought with golden and silver light,. The blue and the dim and the dark cloths. Of night and light and the half light,. Hope you enjoy it!

Reading, writing, reflecting on children's literature. Friday, November 7, 2014. Poetry Friday: My Letter to the World and Other Poems. Something clicked for me as a teen studying poetry in my Grade 11 English class—poems seemed to say what we wouldn’t dare say out loud in regular speech. Or maybe we could. Say these things out loud—poetry dared us to do so. The words flipped over the shame of it, experimenting with the idea that we might even be proud of such a statement. Sheri Duff : Mother!

Last year we described 2012 as full and we’re tempted to call 2013 fuller , but we’ll refrain and call it blessed instead. When we were working on our goals for 2013, Gary and I decided to pray that our 3 oldest children would get married this year. Now we thank the Lord that He only answered that for 2 of them instead of all 3! And in the middle of it all the nonconformist 3rd one said, I Refuse to get married in 2013! 2 A courtship is begun by asking the girl’s father for permission to get to kno...

I write YA. Cute boys with trucks, and evil step monsters. July 6, 2015. You know what I’m talking about. We’ve all done it. Haven’t we? I’m thinking that I can’t be the only one who did it. I was lucky. When I did it there wasn’t any caller ID. In my day, did I just say that? Send a message through Facebook to long lost loves when they shouldn’t? Okay, I know this answer or I would assume it safe to say that I do. But what I want to know is what do people say and after it is said, do they regret it?
