A FREE week-long festival of original work at New York Live Arts in May 2016. These student-created and performed plays took on topics ranging from slut shaming to police brutality, conflicted communities, the resiliency of women, and the supernatural – and were the absolute highlight of our year! Opening Act has improved the lives of my students, the culture of my school, and my practice as a teacher. Dan Thompson English teacher (The Bronx). Opening Act currently provides its full-year after-school theater program to 375 students attending 36 public high schools on 15 high school campuses, and plans to expand to our 16th program in 2016-2017.
