Mikawhere?: murakami matsuri 村上祭り
http://japenelle.blogspot.com/2009/07/murakami-matsuri.html
Living in rural Japan.always interesting! Friday, July 17, 2009. The morning Oomachi crew. We were a bit behind but started drinking almost as soon as we joined them! Along the way we were pulled into people's houses for beer, food, and relief from the sun. We were something of celebrities and the people were incredibly generous. Some of the houses along the route were very old, as Murakami was a castle town, and still had non-flushing (outhouse style) toilets. Besides the old guy on the left :). We foun...

Living in rural Japan.always interesting! Thursday, February 26, 2009. That night we celebrated Holly's goodbye because she was leaving Japan. The show must go on though so our director is going to assume her role! Learned that giving the peace sign upwards is a way of say f you in England so Courtney and I are give the non-profane version! Wednesday, February 25, 2009. Mid-year seminar and northern lights. Naomi and I practicing our gansta pirate pose. Naomi and Courtney two of my best buds this year.

Mikawhere?: Hokkaido Day 5
http://japenelle.blogspot.com/2009/07/hokkaido-day-5.html
Living in rural Japan.always interesting! Wednesday, July 01, 2009. In a larger map. Ruu left us at Asahikawa to go visit her friend in Sapporo so we decided to go hiking in Daisetzu National Park. I read there were many waterfalls and I LOVE waterfalls. Can you find the waterfall? We didn't think there would be soooo much snow. The leaves had yet to bloom but it was still beautiful. I would love to go back in a different season. It really was hot! We went from mountains and snow to rolling lush farm lan...

Living in rural Japan.always interesting! Tuesday, July 28, 2009. I have lived in my small little place in Agamachi Japan the longest of anywhere since I moved out of my parents home when I was 18. It is tiny but it has become my home and I was sad to tear it apart! Here are some last pictures before I took everything down. This is just the living/ bedroom the rest of it is a mess! Bye bye little place in the mountains. Friday, July 24, 2009. Misael teaches the Koide kids. This is her duck face. Ironical...

Living in rural Japan.always interesting! Wednesday, May 27, 2009. Ruu asked Naomi and I to go on a bus tour to Nagano and I had always heard about Japanese tours so I thought why not. The tour was to the temple Zenkoji which is famous every seven years when it's inner doors open to reveal a treasured copy of a famous statue which no one is allowed to see! Rabu rabu dumpling things. Make the extra rice into an onigiri for later. Naomi avoiding the rain by choosing her drink from a telephone booth.

Mikawhere?: Hokkaido Day 7
http://japenelle.blogspot.com/2009/07/hokkaido-day-7.html
Living in rural Japan.always interesting! Wednesday, July 08, 2009. Hokkaido is famous for it's namacarameru or handmade caramel. The factory/farm Hanabatakebokujo where it is made is somewhat of a tourist destination so we decided to check it out. You can watch as the workers stir the caramel by hand. There aren't many farms in Japan with animals so it is quite a novelty for Japanese people but both Naomi and having seen our fair share it was a little humorous. The miniature horses were still cute.

A Pip's Pot of Dirt: May 2007
http://pipdirts.blogspot.com/2007_05_01_archive.html
A Pip's Pot of Dirt. Thursday, May 24, 2007. Sweet smell of Spring. Also, my herbs are looking strong and full, which is equally (if not more) exciting - I'm hoping they'll survive the move to Aylmer in a month. I still have to find out what kind of tree is over on the corner of my street. (I wonder if it's a Linden? Tuesday, May 22, 2007. Monday, May 7, 2007. Springtime in my garden :). I managed to shrug off the snow a couple times throughout April, if it happens in May, I'm moving South. :(. So far my...

A Pip's Pot of Dirt: June 2007
http://pipdirts.blogspot.com/2007_06_01_archive.html
A Pip's Pot of Dirt. Tuesday, June 19, 2007. Another flower I intend to plant more of is allium - I planted a few purple ones last year (and it's a shame I let two of the bulbs die because I couldn't think of where to plant them). They opened up into beautiful big flowers. I'll have to post pictures later, as I've lost my cord for the camera. :(. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Places to Go, Things to See. Ginlor Kennel and Farm. It was a small carrot patch.

A Pip's Pot of Dirt: Springtime in my garden :)
http://pipdirts.blogspot.com/2007/05/springtime-in-my-garden.html
A Pip's Pot of Dirt. Monday, May 7, 2007. Springtime in my garden :). Well, after long days and nights of waiting and wishing, Spring has finally decided to grace us with her presence - and hopefully for good this time! I managed to shrug off the snow a couple times throughout April, if it happens in May, I'm moving South. :(. So far my old fashioned roses are doing better where I moved them (which is a relief), the orange lillies are insane (I tried thinning them but I can barely keep up!

A Pip's Pot of Dirt: Pretty Blooms for Spring
http://pipdirts.blogspot.com/2007/03/pretty-blooms-for-spring.html
A Pip's Pot of Dirt. Monday, March 19, 2007. Pretty Blooms for Spring. Since Spring is almost here, I took some pictures of pretty, fresh looking plants I have around the house right now. I was lucky to inherit a begonia (Laura if you read this, I will replace yours sorry girl! Because my cousin accidentally left it on my kitchen table, so it's now enjoying its new home in my kitchen. Maybe I'll do that this weekend when I'm at the Ottawa Spring Home and Garden Show! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
