Another sub 49! | First Season Racing
https://firstseasonracing.com/2015/06/15/another-sub-49
Blog on amateur racing by Rob Sharland. I’ve done a few events since my last update, I’m wary to talk about them all every time as it would make for pretty dull reading, and would mean I was writing a hell of a lot given the midweek racing over the summer! I got there nice and early, weather was really nice, I set off as last man which seems to be the way recently in most events I’ve entered, its quite nice to come back to clubhouse without having to wait for times to come in! Next up was another TT, my ...

Blog on amateur racing by Rob Sharland. From Redhill to Gipsy Hill. Been an eventful couple of weekends race wise, I was really happy with how I was coming along, and had a couple of events I was keen to test myself on. And secondly because some pratt scattered drawing pins all over the finish area which ended a lot riders day and could have been really dangerous. And were around 8 strong, but not everyone was coming through, some people were totally frazzled and I was conscious that though I felt good, ...

Next up is the famous Bentley Xmas 10, hopefully I can get that elusive 19 in late December after missing it by 13 seconds last year. 2nd place – 1st loser. This weekend was pretty much the end of the season for me, kind of good as I have a lot of weddings. Https:/ www.strava.com/activities/395640134. That pretty much sums up the year, I...

Another target ticked! | First Season Racing
https://firstseasonracing.com/2015/05/29/another-target-ticked
Blog on amateur racing by Rob Sharland. As ever, I have done a couple of events since the last update. Its been quite a good period of training and no illness of late, I’ve managed to get some solid weeks in and am feeling pretty good. However, I crossed the line in 19.13 having dragged the average watts up to around 385 which is as good as I’ve managed in a ten, which bodes well given I’ve not ridden the TT bike in two months! Blog on amateur racing by Rob Sharland. Archive August, 2015. Been a while since I updated, I think the last one was when I had won at Crystal Palace, good times! Since then I’ve done a few bits here and there, couple of crits where I was fairly average, a couple of TT’s where I did alright and won both, though I was later relegated to 2nd in one after timekeeping mix up (damn you Boyman! Predictably despite feeling ok health wise since the 25 earlier in the week I picked up a bit of a sore throat, but t...

Blog on amateur racing by Rob Sharland. Archive October, 2014. 2014 and beyond…. 20 degrees in London today. Sometimes I question whether I should be writing a season summary at all given it still feels like May outside! Anyway, I have knocked the racing on the head for the time being so thought I’d cover the season gone and a few bits and bobs. For next year I’ve planned out these as goals :. 1 Defend title at Kingston Sporting 14 and break Wouters course record, top 3 in Redhill 18. Create a free websi...

Blog on amateur racing by Rob Sharland. Archive February, 2015. Better late than never? I said I’d like to get in the top 3 for this event and managed that, so while I was always wondering if I had pushed harder down the hill, I am not dissatisfied with the result, one more sporting TT in the East Surrey Hardriders and then a few road races to get stuck into. Blog on amateur racing by Rob Sharland. Archive July, 2014. TT’s, Crits & punctures! Rather than do individual entries for every single little event I think its likely better to roll a few into one! Since I did my last update I’ve done a few events, Redhill Road race was the first of those. Sadly the day ended early for me with a puncture, but the race was perhaps notable for the wrong reasons. Drawing pins dumped on the road by a drive near the end of the race! I got there very early, and warmed up as p...

Blog on amateur racing by Rob Sharland. Archive April, 2015. Https:/ www.strava.com/activities/293068196. This weekend was a double header, I’ve been feeling better after the illness which is good, and got a bit of riding in over the week. The first of the two races I’d entered was a rare 1/2/3 event at Hillingdon. 50 miles of it no less! However it would make the race interesting perhaps! Https:/ www.strava.com/activities/292365384.
