Help and Hope for Caregivers. Being a pw (pastor’s wife) has been an adventure for almost 4 decades. I’m also the Administrative Assistant at church. Sound boring? The plan is for our retirement from active ministry to begin in the summer of 2012. It’s a bittersweet feeling. For almost five years I was I was a long-distance caregiver, following my father’s stroke and subsequent cancer diagnosis. Soon after his problems peaked, Mom developed both clinical depression and emphysema. They lived 3 hours away and we had 3 children and 2 churches to care for already.
