It sounds a little strange, but even though she lives a thousand miles away, just knowing that I have her makes me nicer, and sweeter. I don’t do much else, like clean my house or do needlework, but I do read. (Actually, I knit but only in the winter. And I work. Hard.) I go through more books than anyone else I know, except maybe my husband but he must skim his. By Margaret Drabble. It was a little strange. I’m not sure I would recommend it. Before that I read. 100 Years of Solitude.

Thursday, July 21, 2005. This is the last new technology I am going to learn. And I am only going to learn this one because it seems kind of cool. Now I am beginning to understand why my grandmother didn't want a microwave, and why my parents won't use the DVD player we bought them. Tomorrow is my birthday. Perhaps I have lived too long. Why is it that it is now common to sit down and compose all your innermost thoughts, and post them on the Internet? This is for you Dad. This is a blog.
