CADVision offered a free, no strings attached, Internet. As part of the marketing efforts of CADVision, CD’s were routinely given out to just about everyone and anyone who would want one. Each CD contain a one free month of Internet access. There were no strings or catches, everyone was welcome to try a variety of Internet applications without a commitment.

In October, 1996, CADVision was the one of the first ISPs in North America launch consumer and corporate ADSL. Effectively inexpensive broadband Internet. ADSL is a technology that is delivered by placing high speed modems over a bare copper line. The closer the modems are together, the faster the service runs. Our initial product had a top download speed of 7000 kbps. CADVision setup DSL hubs near most of the telco centers. This proved critical when the business orientated ISP PSINet bought us.

It also evolved into a local portal for Calgarians to learn about what was happening locally. 10,000‘s unique visitors saw it came to our site everyday. From weather, to news, stocks, sports and even horoscopes were part of our website. CADVision was way ahead of its time when it launched GoSearch. It was a aggregate search engine that compiled the results of a variety of search websites.

CADVision took the time and energy to personally educate over 20,000 customers. With in house seminars and classes. They would run in evening, on the weekends as Open Houses. Or even at the IMAX Theatre. Seminars would cover everything from searching, gaming, chatting to genealogy, fishing, and traveling. They were massively popular, free, and everyone was welcome. CADVision also gave free seminars to schools, colleges, churches. CADVision presented over 30 sold out shows.
