Yarn on the brain. On knitting and neuroscience. June 30, 2011. Anatomist Santiago Ramon y Cajal was the first to see–and illustrate–what neurons really do. His exquisitely detailed drawings changed our understanding of the brain and nervous system. Cajal relentlessly pursued his microcopic study of animal tissues, leading to an essential discovery: Brain signals jump from cell to cell rather than flow through a continuous web of fibers, as was believed at the time. June 16, 2011. 8230; Yeah, not so much.

Life, Fantastic!: November 2010
http://katherine-life-fantastic.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
A life spent in search of adventure. November 24, 2010. Eat a Cookie and Time Travel. I like titles that are completely (initially) unrelated to the work. When I go into a library or a book store I'm looking for intriguing titles, something that would spark my imagination and make me long for the story behind the covers. But enough about that, today I have joy. If I am to live in a country that is beset with snow for the greater part of the year, then I might as well find ways to enjoy it, right? I would...

A life spent in search of adventure. September 22, 2011. Shoulders, Hips and Sneezes. I am struggling to achieve some kind of balance between work, studies and social life. I haven't had to in a while and I don't particularly enjoy the sensation of losing control. The last item is in fact necessary to my sanity. I don't write as much when I'm sick. In fact, I think I'm going to construct a nest out of tea bags, tissues and Tylenol and hibernate for a while. It's better than discovering that my sn...Reaso...

Life, Fantastic!: August 2011

A life spent in search of adventure. August 30, 2011. Have you ever chanced to look at the family photos of a stranger? Not the posed kind but rather those shots of everyday life that mean more than what you see on paper. In the albums of strangers the world is beautiful. The pictures from my childhood are strange to me. It is hard to distinguish if my recollections are genuine or reconstructions based on pictures. The girl in the picture is a stranger even though I know she is me. Links to this post.

Life, Fantastic!: Winter Sojurn
http://katherine-life-fantastic.blogspot.com/2011/12/winter-sojurn.html
A life spent in search of adventure. December 9, 2011. You'll never believe it, my friends. If I told you'd I'd absconded with a gang of space pirates in order to roam the distant nebula clusters in search of the dread cluster-crab shoals you would not for a second have doubted it. The sad truth of the matter is I ran out of interesting things to write about. It's true. But enough about me. I've missed you guys! There's so little time before the end of the year and so much to do! Subscribe in a reader.

A life spent in search of adventure. June 28, 2011. Dangerous Baking: Key Lime Cheesecake. I spend a lot more time stumbling for recipes than I should but I forgive myself every hour of time-wasting when I come across a treasure like this. Key Lime Swirl Cheesecake. It had me at Lime, and then knocked me over with Swirl and Cheesecake. After picking myself up off the floor I high-tailed it to the kitchen to make it. This recipe comes courtesy of Heather from. But these, however, are my pictures. 2 cups g...

Yarn on the brain. On knitting and neuroscience. May 23, 2012. This is the third time I’ve had to knit this heel. The pattern is Cookie A.’s Orange Pekoe socks. Knit in the club colourway; because the socks are mirrored it’s important that the heel placement lines up so the right stitches are on the insole so the pattern on the leg lines up with the pattern on the top of the foot. Rip rip rip a second time. This entry was posted in knitting. SOCK YOU ARE ON THE LIST →. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. You are...
