An ongoing story of life and travel. Saturday, February 26, 2011. Time for a Vacation? We want to share the love. We have a membership with a vacation club in the Caribbean. It is at the Lifestyle Holidays Resort in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. What's great about a membership is that we can use it as often as we'd like and we can let anyone use it, we just have to book the reservation. I have listed the prices that we are able to rent the following spaces for:. 1 Bedroom (sleeps 2-4). Food is great,...

The pastries we bought when we got to Spacca Napoli. :). The amazing terracotta figurines. We heade...

An ongoing story of life and travel. Wednesday, May 15, 2013. Day 19: Don Quixote. I can hardly believe how busy our days are! Today after class and lunch, we watched a movie (Don Quixote) and had a lecture on Spanish Literature. After that it we had a short break before dinner. No tour of the city today, which was actually nice. We've been on the run since we got here with little time to rest so we're getting worn out! Lunch: Lentejas (Pea soup). Lunch: Pollo asado con ensalada. Rodd is REALLY excited!

I have decided to plant a garden. After much mulling, we have decided to put off our move to North Carolina for another time. I have mixed feelings, but I'm sure that it will be for the best. This means all of my projects are coming back out and, yes. It's not too late to plant a garden! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

kninsa & Shem: "Words are the physicians of the mind diseased" ~Aeschylus
http://family-of-roses.blogspot.com/2010/05/words-are-physicians-of-mind-diseased.html
Friday, May 21, 2010. Words are the physicians of the mind diseased" Aeschylus. I would like to take some time to make a formal homage to my best newfound friend of the week. She is fun, and a fellow word-nerd like myself. Plus, she handled my ribbing with maturity and humor. And so it is with great linguistic fanfare that I share with her (and everyone else) my all-time favorite word: pip. The definitions are as endless as they are varied:. 1 one of the spots on dice, playing cards, or dominoes. May 21,...

kninsa & Shem: "Why do you ask questions to which you already know the answers?" ~Magneto
http://family-of-roses.blogspot.com/2009/08/why-do-you-ask-questions-to-which-you.html
Thursday, August 20, 2009. Why do you ask questions to which you already know the answers? I have a theory. It is untested, but sound. I believe that women never. Want to know a man's answer to any. Question the women ask. Okay, "never" sounds a bit harsh - let's stick with "hardly ever." Which is a scientific term, yes. Or "Do you think Kathy Griffin is prettier than I am? But my favorite example of tricksy womanses asking questions simply to make us men believe we have a choice is the ever-dangerous "D...

kninsa & Shem: "If men liked shopping, they'd call it research" ~Cynthia Nelms
http://family-of-roses.blogspot.com/2009/12/if-men-liked-shopping-theyd-call-it.html
Wednesday, December 23, 2009. If men liked shopping, they'd call it research" Cynthia Nelms. When I first met Shem, she told me that she was an unusual woman in that she doesn't like to shop. I thought that was nice, because I don't like to shop either. A match made in heaven, right? Wrong So very, very wrong. And so of course I would go along, thinking no sweat, this should be some easy brownie points. Except for one small snag. I learned a valuable lesson today: it is against a woman's nature to buy th...
