Sunday, 15 November 2009. Debbie - Rowan Kid Classic Lace Scarf. 3 skeins Rowan Kid Classic. Cast on 36 st. Use faggotting lace pattern until scarf measures 150cm. Cut fifty-two 25cm lengths of yarn for tassels. Take two of the lengths of yarn at a time, and knot through the ends of the scarf at even intervals. R1: [k1, y2o, k2tog] repeat to end. R2: purl to end - letting the 2nd loop of each yo2 from the previous row drop (end with 36st on the needle). R3: [k2tog, y2o, k1] repeat to end. Cast off in rib.

So, I had a skein of Kaalund Relish in 'Wine' (purple and green) - I started trying out loads of different scarf patterns with it, but it was tricky to get something that made good use of the colour variations, and also ended up being long enough. Then I hit upon this one. Hardly a 'design', it's so simple, but always worth recording! The finished scarf is about 15cm wide and 130cm long. 1 skein Kaalund Relish (90m, bulky). Cast on 15 st. Saturday, 9 October 2010. Scarf - adventures in YO K2tog #1. I had this yarn left over from another project (a drop-stitch one) which it really was not suitable for (the yarn clings to itself too much for the drop stitches to drop without a lot of encouragement). So I decided to knit up another scarf. I liked the simple laciness of the YO K2tog I've used on a lot of my other patterns, but I wanted to give this a bit more substance, so I put in some garter stitch columns. 1 pair 6mm needles.

The pattern uses basketweave - there are two 'blocks' which are alternated. The pattern is knitted with two strands of yarns throughout. R1 (and all odd rows): k5, p5, k5, p5, k5. R2 (and all even rows): p5, k5, p5, k5, p5. Repeat until you have done 10 rows in total. R1 (and all odd rows): p5, k5, p5, k5, p5. 2x2 rib cast on.

Saturday, 16 January 2010. This bag is based on the shape of this Entrelac Clutch. But knitted without the entrelac, and totally seamlessly (bottom up), so I felt it warranted being recorded as a pattern in its own right. Its finished size (after felting) is 22cm from the top of the handles to the bottom (when standing up), and 33cm from one side to the other (66cm all the way round) at the widest point. 6mm circular needles (I used 120cm ones and tended towards Magic Loop at the end).
