hellish designs: January 2013
http://hellish-designs.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
Vintage fabrics for today's lifestyle. Friday, 25 January 2013. Perhaps my workroom most of all where constant sewing and cutting create dust and untidiness; a new carpet is ordered to replace the glue stained, coffee soaked thing we took to the tip but actually the empty room looks great. Nevertheless all the cupboards with their stash of fabric and the invaluable workbench will be back next work ready to finally get back to work. A good backdrop for my small collection of mochaware jugs. And I realise ...

hellish designs: Isolated in a desert
http://hellish-designs.blogspot.com/2014/02/isolated-in-desert.html
Vintage fabrics for today's lifestyle. Tuesday, 11 February 2014. Isolated in a desert. First, apologies to those of you who struggled to follow my last post with its enormous images. I was feeling pleased with myself as I downloaded an app which promised to allow me to blog and upload images from my new fabulously stylish i pad, that was until I viewed the results. The same name. His latest cyber venture is this desert isolation disc blog. For once I didn't want to swap my Midlands home as I passed floo...

hellish designs: new lampshades
http://hellish-designs.blogspot.com/2014/01/new-lampshades.html
Vintage fabrics for today's lifestyle. Tuesday, 14 January 2014. Finally, finally I've started to sew again just when the sewing machine thought it was safe to retreat under the cover. I spent last week procrastinating; blogging, emailing, tidying drawers for heavens sake, it was beginning to look as though the oven would get a clean! And all the while that pile of expensive fabric was staring reproachfully from a corner of the room.or so it seems. A pretty pink fabric with the flowers in cream "lozenges".

http://hellish-designs.blogspot.com/2014/02/spring-open-house-this-weekend.html
Vintage fabrics for today's lifestyle. Wednesday, 26 February 2014. Spring open house this weekend. I'm busy preparing for the first open house of the year. Its been 3 months since my last sale here so plenty of time to sew new designs and collect some lovely vintage finds. On this occasion I've several pieces of furniture as well as the usual smaller items, hope they'll find new homes. This set of shelves is beautifully painted and is the perfect size to easily display some treasures. I would love to co...

hellish designs: Cushions or should that be pillows
http://hellish-designs.blogspot.com/2014/01/cushions-or-should-that-be-pillows.html
Vintage fabrics for today's lifestyle. Wednesday, 22 January 2014. Cushions or should that be pillows. Anyway to the point. I bought some pieces of quilted toile in December and was looking forward to seeing them made up. There was one piece large enough for the front of a cushions and the other pieces have been combined with white linen. A cat features at his feet. Finally a group of simple mangle cloth cushions. These linen pieces with striped edges were used to protect fragile pieces of fabric whi...

hellish designs: July 2013
http://hellish-designs.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
Vintage fabrics for today's lifestyle. Monday, 29 July 2013. Back on the road again. I'm not sure whether it makes any kind of economic sense, especially considering the price of fuel, but planning a holiday around standing at a vintage fair is a lot more fun than slogging up and down the M1. I had a lovely time at Lucy's lovely Sussex Brocante. I'm storing some pots on the printer's shelves and stone bottles on the table. I've made these floral barkcloth cushions for the Homespun fair. The best seller a...

Vintage fabrics for today's lifestyle. Tuesday, 27 November 2012. Come on the blues (or the pinks). My final Christmas sale will be on Saturday 1st Dec in Chipping Sodbury at Jayne and Michele's lovely Christmas Vintage and Handmade fair. Hopefully the last Christmas fairies will fly to new homes, stockings will be bought to hang and the 2013 diaries chosen as gifts. In addition I have lots of vintage goodies which would make great presents for the vintage lover or indeed treat yourself. Back to the gara...

hellish designs: June 2013
http://hellish-designs.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html
Vintage fabrics for today's lifestyle. Friday, 14 June 2013. One of the best parts of my job has to be going antique shopping in "office hours"; all those fairs which were off limits when I worked in a school are now part of the working week. Even better when selling and buying at the same event! Sadly this is only possible for as long as the chosen items sell and bring in enough profit to feed the habit. I love these misshapen bottles and think they need to be displayed in groups. They are handmade ...
