The Wonderwheel: Earth Hour
http://thewonderwheel.blogspot.com/2008/03/earth-hour.html
Saturday, March 29, 2008. We are observing Earth Hour. Tonight, but adjusted it a bit. We started early - at 6:30 - as starting at 8pm would have had no impact whatsoever on the slumbering darlings we wish to teach about being stewards of the earth. I was struck by the way that the natural darkening of the night sky through our windows brought on a gradual calm in us all. No sudden, “Okay, it’s bedtime! But do you know what I love about my neighborhood? We can, can’t we? If we made this effort more often?

Surveying the dining room during lunch, Lyle casually asked, "When are moving from this. His tone let me know that he assumed moving day must be right around the corner. Who can blame him? It must seem about time. After all, we've lived here a full year now, so why aren't we packing? But those pages of all the places we lived? But please. After the past 7 years? And join in all the fun o...

There are no large, leafy deciduous trees, other than what can be seen of the beautiful foliage in Golden Gate Park, peeking over the rooftops, located just two blocks south. That just months ago was a favorite cafe. Saturday, December 29, 2007. Foggy Morning in San Francisco. See the full set here. Tuesday, December 25, 2007. Or: Guess Who Got a New Camera? The Wonderwheel: June 2007
http://thewonderwheel.blogspot.com/2007_06_01_archive.html
Friday, June 29, 2007. Help me through my misery, folks. Matt and I joked all week about the iPhone, mainly due to his TOTAL OBSESSION with it. It was a constant topic of conversation and every time I walked into the home office I found him IM'ing with friends around the country about it. Mid-week it occurred to me that I really. These things right this minute, but they'd be helpful and would offset some income. Well, hmmm. Doesn't the iPhone fall under that category, too? I had no idea! I was eventually...

Who can blame him? It must seem about time. After all, we've lived here a full year now, so why aren't we packing? But those pages of all the places we lived? There are too many. It's kind of scary, how many times we moved with the boys over the past 7 years. But please. After the past 7 years? And join in all the...

The Wonderwheel: The Recyclery
http://thewonderwheel.blogspot.com/2008/03/recyclery.html
Sunday, March 30, 2008. As long as we're talking about Mother Earth. This weekend, I want to share a wonderful discovery we made yesterday. Baxter and I were both in the market for new bicycles this spring, and so we went up to Evanston (a very short distance from our far north side neighborhood) to check out The Recyclery's. Spring Sale. The Recyclery. Video (which you really must see if you haven't). It's a Mom Ride all right, but for $65, bring it on. Refer to as the "Unitarian Holy Trinity": reduce, ...

The Wonderwheel: April 2007
http://thewonderwheel.blogspot.com/2007_04_01_archive.html
Monday, April 30, 2007. There was something about the way Baxter behaved tonight that seemed just a little off-kilter. The strange energy at the table, the inability to quiet himself when asked repeatedly, until Matt actually gave the child's dinner roll. A time out for flying across the table multiple times. At least that got us all laughing. I knew that either a) he needed to use the bathroom desperately; or b) something had gone wrong today. Are you not cyin' anymoah? Sunday, April 29, 2007. Pink nose...
