my world: My beautiful Sena
http://ralucamocanu.blogspot.com/2015/07/my-beautiful-sena.html
Sunday, July 12, 2015. Your children are not your children. They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself. They come through you but not from you,. And though they are with you yet they belong not to you. You may give them your love but not your thoughts,. For they have their own thoughts. You may house their bodies but not their souls,. For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,. Which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams. You may strive to be like them,. Hi, I'm Raluca! Beyond ...

my world: June 2015

Friday, June 26, 2015. This time of year. Excellent strawberry harvest this season. We made strawberry jam. Here, Sena and Aiyana are preparing the berries. Stirring the pot. Just Strawberries, maple syrup and a little lemon. It smelled divine. Canned about 40 pints of jam. Not sure that will be enough. But we also froze about 60 pints of raw berries, so I guess it will be. And after all the work, a treat: cheese and jam, all made by us. Tuesday, June 16, 2015. Sena and the cows. Our herd of five. On Sun...

my world: More Khalil Gibran from The Prophet
http://ralucamocanu.blogspot.com/2015/07/more-khalil-gibran-from-prophet-for.html
Friday, July 17, 2015. More Khalil Gibran from The Prophet. Then Almitra spoke again and said, "And what of Marriage, master? And he answered saying:. You were born together, and together you shall be forevermore. You shall be together when white wings of death scatter your days. Aye, you shall be together even in the silent memory of God. But let there be spaces in your togetherness,. And let the winds of the heavens dance between you. Love one another but make not a bond of love:. Hi, I'm Raluca! I am ...

my world: September 2014
http://ralucamocanu.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 23, 2014. Fall Equinox and some cow stuff. What a beautiful time of the year! I love it, the light is so soft and rich, the trees are all in color, the days are sunny and crisp, the evenings and mornings so cold that I can see steam rising from the bucket when I milk Opal. All those years in college, and I can make some pretty fancy graphs now. And what better stuff to plot than vegetable yields, or milk production? That's the news from here for now. Sunday, September 14, 2014. When yo...

my world: February 2015
http://ralucamocanu.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Wednesday, February 25, 2015. Yesterday and today I've been working in the greenhouse. I planted carrots, beets, lettuces and other salad greens, and watered all the crops. It feels good to be seeing bare ground, and to be getting my hands dirty again. Also, seeing greens growing at this time of the year, like spinach, is downright therapeutic. Jasmine is due to give birth in April, and Opal in June, so we will have to buy milk between now and April. That's some of what's been going on. Much of the busyn...

my world: August 2015
http://ralucamocanu.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
Sunday, August 23, 2015. August: month of plenty, month of seemingly never ending work. In the past, people put things away for the winter by necessity, but now all you have to do is go to the store if you want tomato sauce, or even fresh tomatoes in the winter, and you get them cheap, way cheaper than if you were to consider the labor you put into it to produce it yourself. So is it worth it? We will inseminate again in three weeks. Tuesday, August 11, 2015. Our field in Willington. Work carts at the en...

my world: our field in Willington

Tuesday, August 11, 2015. Our field in Willington. I posted this picture of our Willington field last spring. It had just been tilled and was bare. This weekend I brought my camera when Aiyana and I went there to harvest. Thought I'd show what it looks like now. Standing in the field - behind Aiyana are kohlrabi, rutabagas and potatoes. Sweet Potatoes, eggplant, Brussel sprouts, cabbages and broccoli. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Hi, I'm Raluca! Check out my farm at:. Do it Sena, do it! If you're ...

my world: May 2015
http://ralucamocanu.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Wednesday, May 27, 2015. It's been so incredibly dry this spring! I am irrigating every day and can barely keep up with the needs of the crops and the orchard. We had one inch of very welcome rain last week, but that was it for the past month. Very abnormal. I don't like to feel this way, so I focus on what I can do. I have to do something. If I can't contribute in a positive way to life, then what am I doing here? Do one thing at a time, do it well. I think of this as an internal state that is fundament...

my world: March 2015
http://ralucamocanu.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Tuesday, March 24, 2015. Spring Equinox was just a few days ago. It also snowed a few inches, so it still looks wintery outside. But the sun is bright and the days are long, and Sena and Aiyana are memorizing poems about Spring. Spring will come. We’re eating the veggies that we grow ourselves, nuts which we buy (I’ve been making nut based crackers and pie crusts, which are really good), legumes such as beans and lentils some of which we grow and some we buy, fruits which we grow ourselves, d...This morn...
