Camp to Belong Massachusetts. Sibling Connections offers two main programs for reuniting siblings who have been separated by their placement in foster care. Held every August, Camp To Belong Massachusetts. Is our week-long summer camp and our annual flagship event. Year round, we also offer monthly one-day reunion opportunities throughout Massachusetts via our Sibling Sunday. Programs. Camp to Belong Massachusetts. Youth Leadership Program (YLP). We are happy to announce the launch of our second season of the Youth Leadership Program (YLP) also known as The Crew . This summer we are hoping to accept 12 youth who are experiencing foster care between the ages of 16-20. Our program was designed to support youth who attended Camp To Belong Ma in the past; however, we encourage all youth to apply. Yami, YLP participant, 2013. Camp to Belong Massachusetts. Sibling Connections was founded in 2004 by child advocate Judy Cockerton. Judy began her journey in 1999, when she and her husband became foster parents to two sisters. It was through these two beautiful little girls that Judy began learning about the realities of life for children who experience foster care. Camp to Belong Massachusetts. There are 800,000 children who experience foster care in America. 12,000 live in Massachusetts. Children in foster care have been separated from everything familiar: their homes, their parents, and their neighborhoods. More than half have also been separated from their sisters and brothers. Camp to Belong Massachusetts. Camp to Belong Massachusetts. Camp to Belong 2016 will be Sunday, August 14th – Friday, August 19th. Creative Art Projects such as the Sibling Pillow Project. Lynn Price founded Camp To Belong in 1995 out of her own childhood experience in the foster care system. Separated from her older sister, Andi Andree, Lynn only developed a solid friendship with her sister as a young adult. Realizing how much they missed growing up apart, Lynn was inspired to create Camp To Belong.
