Sick Momma: February 2014
http://sickmomma.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
Friday, February 28, 2014. This post is written in response to a call for submissions from Leslie Rott. For a new blog carnival for the Partnership for Palliative Care. Where she's currently interning. My mystery lady - do you think she knows the answer to my mystery illness? Are there any toddlers that aren't energetic? To barely being able to care for myself, seemingly overnight. That connection to the chronic illness community, which I'd never known existed, was a lifeline. There's a shared experi...
Sick Momma: Running On Empty
http://sickmomma.blogspot.com/2014/01/running-on-empty.html
Friday, January 24, 2014. Running on Empty by Chris Metcalf via flickr. It's been about a million years since I felt like I was full of energy. But lately, I'm really dragging. But nine-year-olds have a surprising amount of homework these days, way more than I remember having. (And I was nerdy enough to keep a diary of my math homework in third grade, so it's not just my faded memory that I'm comparing! And supervising homework (which is mostly keeping her on task) is exhausting. Visit Our Etsy Store!
Sick Momma: What My Chronic Illness Feels Like
http://sickmomma.blogspot.com/2013/09/what-my-chronic-illness-feels-like.html
Tuesday, September 10, 2013. What My Chronic Illness Feels Like. Hey, remember me? I used to post more often, but lately I feel like I don't have anything new to say that I haven't already said so my blog has languished. (See apathy below) But Duncan. Sent out a topic. For the September edition of Patients For A Moment. That inspired me to get back to this blog. In the sense that imitation is a form of flattery, I've used a similar format to Duncan's post. But here's how I feel. For today, at least.
Sick Momma: March 2013
http://sickmomma.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, March 10, 2013. People Say The Darndest Things. It's not just kids who say the darndest things. It seems like everyone does, especially when it comes to people with chronic illnesses. Including those who should know better. I have a friend I've known for almost 30 years (eek, that really dates me! Who has Crohn's disease. An autoimmune disease that attacks the gastrointestinal system. In the past year, the friend has developed an autoimmune form of alopecia. Leslie has a way with words. :). I'm p...
Sick Momma: Clinical Fatigue vs Being Tired
http://sickmomma.blogspot.com/2007/12/clinical-fatigue-vs-being-tired.html
Monday, December 24, 2007. Clinical Fatigue vs Being Tired. I have to admit I had no idea about the difference between clinical fatigue and normal (even extreme) tiredness before getting sick last summer. Hey, I had a baby. I had those early months of never getting more than a few hours sleep at a time. I walked around in a fog like every new mom does. And truthfully, I couldn't imagine that there was something that people could have that involved being even more tired than I was then. It's a feeling tha...

Long hard road out of hell. | Surprising ME
https://surprisingme.wordpress.com/2010/12/02/long-hard-road-out-of-hell
Bringing the inert to life. Long hard road out of hell. Welp It’s been a very long month. What with driving lessons, feline shenanigans, child wrangling, Christmas planning (and spending), epic twitter spam and an impromptu visit to my mother’s place for four days, I really didn’t expect that I’d make it. I only went and fucking did it, didn’t I? Managed a paulty 14,000 words before jacking it all in and spending the rest of November watching TV and eating cake). I can still write. Living a Blessed Life: January 2011
http://livingablessedlifewithchronicillness.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Sunday, January 30, 2011. Yes I missed yesterday. And with school starting back on Tuesday I may miss more. However I am still aiming to post most days, even if I change my goal to a post a week, there'll still be more from me than last year so no complaining! I decided to use the writing prompt from a couple of days ago;. If you could live forever, would you? Why or why not? If I was given the choice to live forever I would not take it. Surprising as it might seem, I have no desire to live. I have been ...
Somehow even quieter than before. | Surprising ME
https://surprisingme.wordpress.com/2010/11/04/somehow-even-quieter-than-before
Bringing the inert to life. Somehow even quieter than before. I’m doing NaNoWriMo. If anything is going to kickstart my brain, this is it. By surprisingme on November 4, 2010. One Response to “Somehow even quieter than before.”. I’m doing a modified NaNo — 1,000 words a day in two 500 words sessions. If I keep it up all month, I should finish the first draft of my current novel. I’ll be thinking about you, sending morally supportive thoughts your way all month! Said this on November 4, 2010 at 2:48 am.
I’m not dead… | Surprising ME
https://surprisingme.wordpress.com/2010/10/03/im-not-dead
Bringing the inert to life. I’m not dead…. Oh dear. It has been a while, hasn’t it? However, on the positive side, I’ve started my driving lessons, and so far, all is going well. I’m on track to have my license very early next year, which is later than I would have liked, but realistic, since the waiting list for practical tests in the UK is about 12 weeks long. I wish I had time and energy to sit down and be very clever and entertaining at you all. I’ll return as soon as I get my mojo back. I know I sai...

Sick Momma
Wednesday, March 12, 2014. Product Review: My ID Square. Sorry - I distorted the QR because I realized I didn't want my info to be public. And hopefully, I distorted enough that scanning it doesn't work! I'm complicated in so many ways. In addition to my mystery illness and my collection of assorted diagnoses, I juggle a half dozen or so doctors and an ever-changing laundry list of medications. Even my husband would have a hard time listing them out if I were unable to communicate. Contacted me last mont...
