Adventures in India: Finale
http://adamsindiaadventures.blogspot.com/2007/05/finale.html
Friday, May 4, 2007. It's been quite a ride. I worked on a different task or project almost every day. One of the best learning experiences I had was working on clearing land for future plantings. There is one area that has very young trees spaced out a few meters from each other. The rest of the area was grass, hay, and thorns. Big, nasty thorns (Mulu! As Nagamutu says). We used arivas. Small serrated blades with a slight curve and wooden handle). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). John Gerber @ UMass.

Adventures in India: Tiruvannamalai --> Bangalore --> Hospet --> Hampi
http://adamsindiaadventures.blogspot.com/2007/03/tiruvannamalai-bangalore-hospet-hampi.html
Sunday, March 18, 2007. Tiruvannamalai - Bangalore - Hospet - Hampi. So Matt and I had a bit of a competition going to see who could pack the lightest. I think we tied by both bringing only a camel-bak worth of stuff. Everyone else packed a huge camping daypack that must have weighed more than 50lbs each. Smooth sailing…. A much needed night of sleep put me right out even though I was on the hardest bed(rock) I’ve slept on in a while. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Jake's Siddha Medicine Blog.

Adventures in India: Ecodaya Island Sanctuary
http://adamsindiaadventures.blogspot.com/2007/03/ecodaya-island-sanctuary.html
Sunday, March 18, 2007. So as I mentioned before, the Hampi landscape is made up of 4.5 billion years old granite and other rock formations. As far as the eye can see it is a boulder field. Mountains off in the distance made from huge rocks and patches of lush greenery. On top of half of the peaks are ancient civilization ruins. Hampi is the supposed birthplace of Hanuman, one of the gods in Indian culture. Our next adventure is Fireflies Ashram in the Dinnepalya Village outside of Bangalore. Tiruvannama...

Adventures in India: closing up shop in Auroville
http://adamsindiaadventures.blogspot.com/2007/03/closing-up-shop-in-auroville.html
Friday, March 16, 2007. Closing up shop in Auroville. Jess presented her insights into the process of implementing change towards sustainability at a university. She is working with her school to go 'greener' when she starts up next semester. At night I went to see a band called the Basavaraj Brothers. It was 6 members, 4 were brothers. They were a really amazing band made up of two drummers (one of which was the tabla! 1 sitar, 1 guitar, 1 violin and 1 flute. The guitarist supplemented some vocals b...

Adventures in India: Solitude Farm
http://adamsindiaadventures.blogspot.com/2007/03/solitude-farm.html
Monday, March 26, 2007. It's been quite an adventure since we got back from Fireflies Ashram to Auroville. We moved in to our new home base at College Guest House. I saw the largest spider I have seen yet in India (or anywhere) living in our house. It's actually called a 'house spider', so that fits I guess. I'm hoping that my respect for it will keep me alive at night. At Solitude we've done a variety of work so far. (Will and Drew are also doing their internship at Solitude). Clearing brush and...Movin...

Adventures in India: Fireflies Ashram
http://adamsindiaadventures.blogspot.com/2007/03/fireflies-ashram.html
Tuesday, March 20, 2007. I had a good sleep on the train this time – on top of and eventually underneath my yoga mat. It gets cold around 3am on the trains. Otherwise the only other distraction was the guy coming around asking rather rudely for you to buy Chai at odd hours of the train ride. “Hot CHAI, hot CHAI! You can check it out at http:/ www.fire-flies.net. At night we watched the documentary titled 'The Corporation'. I definitely recommend this documentary to everyone reading this. It was a...The a...
