Three Sheeps To The Wind: May 2011
http://threesheeps.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
Three Sheeps To The Wind. Saturday, May 28, 2011. It is happy to be processed by flicking, combing or carding. The results will be as varied as the fleeces and often can be surprising in the outcomes in wonderful ways. Romney has a longwool background but the crimp structure is different enough to make it seem like it belongs in a different category. Check out the luster and you know it belongs right with all of those other shiny wools with good length. From left to right:. And some close ups:. This is t...

knittingfrau: This week's work
http://knittingfrau.blogspot.com/2009/01/this-weeks-work.html
Tuesday, January 06, 2009. I'm dreaming of knitting new things, but before I start I need to get my yarn house in order. My yarn and fiber are discombobulated and so is my knitting and designing brain. So, it's time to clean up and clean out. It doesn't hurt that, like everyone, money is really tight. There's little to no yarn/fiber buying this year, and I've canceled my plans to go to SOAR. So has Carla, we'll have a slumber party and spin :-). Here's this week's task:. Sort out single/few balls. Ho, Ho...

http://threesheeps.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
Three Sheeps To The Wind. Sunday, August 28, 2011. Oh, What a Month! Deb Menz came over. It was really hot so I got her a hotel room. We had sleepovers. She taught a bit from the floor because i don;t have an easel and she's a good sport. All the people worked really hard. Then there was the assembly which took almost a full day! These are all of the dye books before they were books. It was amazing. We did 380 samples in 2 days of dying. Well, not really we.mostly they. Snacks at the festival. Saturday w...

Three Sheeps To The Wind: June 2011
http://threesheeps.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
Three Sheeps To The Wind. Monday, June 20, 2011. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. The wedding is coming. We are leaving in a week. There was Maggie's dress and it was great. And she looks so pretty in it. Faina does know how to make patterns. She came with her tools and we made the pattern to fit my body. Faina wanted me to make a muslin but I thought why not just make a cotton dress and then alter that. Then I'll have 2 flattering dresses in the end. So far so good, right? Sunday, I ...

Three Sheeps To The Wind: Projects and more Projects
http://threesheeps.blogspot.com/2010/05/projects-and-more-projects.html
Three Sheeps To The Wind. Monday, May 24, 2010. Projects and more Projects. I missed most of the class because the shop was very busy on Saturday. I got to talk about Navajo weaving, bast fibers, spinning wheels, raw wool and all the stuff I love. On Sunday I did something I rarely do.I skipped church. We went to the shop and started the warping of the Alpaca I had wound a few weeks ago. 7 yards. Of lace weight Alpaca. 32 wpi. It is pretty hairy and sticky. A job that should have been 15 minutes. An awes...

Three Sheeps To The Wind: March 2011
http://threesheeps.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
Three Sheeps To The Wind. Wednesday, March 23, 2011. I know you all call her the Harlot or the Yarn Harlot. But I am not comfortable with that. I call her Stephanie. As you all may know, I usually bring teachers to my shop because I want their class. And I was, again, not disappointed. I learned a ton. You know how I know, very few photos. I was so involved in the classes that I kept forgetting about the camera. On Friday evening we learned about silk hankies. More than I expected to learn. We saw. On Su...

Three Sheeps To The Wind: Weaving with Sara Lamb
http://threesheeps.blogspot.com/2011/10/weaving-with-sara-lamb.html
Three Sheeps To The Wind. Tuesday, October 25, 2011. Weaving with Sara Lamb. I've been taking weaving classes off and on for the last 5 years. I began because when I bought the Spinning Loft I became a seller of looms so I thought it would be a good idea to know how to use them. My first project was warped in a twill with black Louet Gems Merino which is a lovely yarn. The weft was some recycled sari yarn that I beat too hard. So the two scarves I warped for were like boards. Then Sara Lamb came to town.
