Silk Town Stitchers 3. Sunday, 19 September 2010. In May ten of us were treated to a day workshop on pulled thread embroidery by Dorothy Hodgson. Dorothy was as ever a patient and inspiring teacher. We learnt, to name but a few, satin stitch, four-sided stitch, honeycomb stitch, reed border, step stitch, wave stitch and three-sided stitch! Many thanks to Dorothy for an excellent workshop! Silk Town Stitchers 3: African Cloths and clothing. A Visit by Maggie Relph

Silk Town Stitchers 3. Sunday, 19 September 2010. African Cloths and clothing. A Visit by Maggie Relph. Beyond the ordinary, into the fabulous” – this is how Maggie Relph described African costume at our June meeting, the final one of the current season before our summer outings and September AGM. Maggie and Elaine hold up two North African kaftans. Maggie holds the top of a formal Moroccan man’s outfit while Norma has the bottom half! Carole’s garment would be worn by a Muslim and therefore would ...

Pendle Embroiderers' Guild: July 2016

http://sewinginpendle.blogspot.com/2016_07_01_archive.html

Formerly Padiham and District EG. Summer Social - July 2016. 4th July - an important day on the USA calendar of course! But also the date of our Summer Social. It started off on a rare warm and sunny note and for once I set out in just my t-shirt and slacks (no winter fleece, oilskin, waders or sou'wester which have all been needed this Summer) - we won't mention what happened later in the afternoon but a lot of people got very wet! Glen reluctantly does a swap with Sue! We also had to say goodbye to Jil...

Pendle Embroiderers' Guild: Gardens of Gawthorpe Exhibition

http://sewinginpendle.blogspot.com/2016/09/gardens-of-gawthorpe-exhibition.html

Formerly Padiham and District EG. Gardens of Gawthorpe Exhibition. We were back at Gawthorpe Hall last Friday for a private viewing of the exhibition Gardens of Gawthorpe. We have no examples of his gardens in the North West, so when Gawthorpe agreed to host an exhibition, their own gardens could be taken as inspiration if we wished, and the pieces are a mixture of embroideries based on his work and the grounds surrounding the Hall. Admiring the work - (the man himself, bottom right on the left).

Pendle Embroiderers' Guild: Christmas Social

http://sewinginpendle.blogspot.com/2016/12/christmas-social.html

Formerly Padiham and District EG. Monday was our last meeting of the year, so we had a party. Thanks to all our successful fundraising over the year we were able to treat our members to a buffet instead of our usual Jacob's Join, so no work involved! We also had another Everyone for Themselves. Another notebook must have changed hands five or six times before it settled on a final lucky owner. Who thought up this fiendish idea? And will she keep it? He talked about how origami has grown in recent years, ...

Formerly Padiham and District EG. Nikki Parmenter visited Pendle Branch on Monday to talk about her wonderful creations - fantastic is the only word for them! No bling is too much for Nikki and what a wonderful effect it creates. She not only raids the haberdashery stalls, but the DIY stores and novelty shops as well to use in her work. This peacock has a base of chicken wire, bound and padded and then embellished with fused layers of organza, Funky Foam, sequins, beads.anything goes. با سالها سابقه در ط...

Tuesday, 19 May 2015. Here are two of the interesting pieces of embroidery from the Guilds vast collection. In March we had the opportunity to study these wide ranging examples in detail taking photos and making sketches so that we can interpret the designs, colours or shapes in our own style. These will then be part of the June meeting when they will be on show to all members and a vote will be made. There was a wide range of work going on and a far amount of chat as well!
